Gordon & List, The very close relationship of Onesime Carriere & Azeline Darbonne did indeed prove to be a hindrance to marriage in the Catholic Church. There was only a civil ceremony in 1848 between these first cousins once removed. It was not until 1870 that they were married in the church at Opelousas.
