When you send a message to the list please make sure you are sending in plain text. RootsWeb is designed for plain text and others will appreciate it. If you use Outlook express, go to tools and then options, click the "send " folder on it and change the setting to plain text. Also you can go to tools and click Address Book and if we are already there click properties the "name" folder. The bottom left hand corner has a box you can check..it says send email in plain text only. ALSO: This concerns all who send links to the list and those who have AOL and YAHOO and SPAMCOP. My inbox is flooded with bounced list mail these days. I have about 200 to deal with from the last two days alone. Many are from this list. Anyone who has spamcop is bouncing. I guess they have decided we are spam. According to what I have heard...Yahoo and AOL have changed their spam filtering system. Because "real" spam has originated from geocities sites (also I believe angelfire), any list mail that has a URL in it for these sites and a few others are automatically bounced for all yahoo and AOL subscribers. There is nothing RootsWeb can do about this. If you have AOL or use yahoo web mail you need to keep an eye on our archives. Also, keep a check at password central, though when you bounce off you should be able to receive the you have been removed from the list message. I have heard it said that it is useless to talk to AOL about it<shrug> It's impossible to ask everyone on every list to not give geocities links on lists, many have their genealogy sites there.
