Hi List, Was checking the 1700 Acadian mailing list and have questions on the following entry. Allexandre liqlarie - what does liqlarie mean? Thank you, Lona Jean BROSSARD 46; Catherine RICHARD (wife) 36; Pierre 16, Francois 6; Claude 5, Allexandre liqlarie 18; Marie-Anne 14; Catherine 10; Isabelle 4; Francoise 3; cattle, 26 sheep. 15 arpents, 1 gun.
Hello everyone, I was curious if anyone knew of any work or sources on Gov. Blanco's cajun Babineau[x] line. I came across a Jean Babineau who married Marie Broussard 1860 in Opelousas, LA [if I recall], and wondered if the Gov. -- native of Vermillion [so I had heard] was of this line... Lona, I don't know the word "liglarie", but since Alexandre was born ca 1699 (White Dictionnaire p.285) it probably means a child less than 1 year old. Trahan in his transcription of the 1700 census ( p. 59) lists Alexandre as 1. Roger A. I took another look at Trahan's transcription of the 1700 census and instead of "Claude 5, Allexandre liqlarie 18; Marie-Anne 14; Catherine 10;" he has "Claude 5, Allexandre 1; Marie 18; Marie-Anne 14; Catherine 10". "liqlarie" seems to be a transcription error for "1; Marie". Marie-Madeleine, born ca 1681, married 7 Jan 1704, Pierre Landry, son of René Landry and Marie Bernard (White Dictionnaire p. 285).
