The posting for the Saskatchewan database prompted me to go searching for a similar site for Alberta and I did find a wonderful site for the Alberta Genealogical Society at http://abgensoc.ca/homestead/index.htm#order . The Society recently completed a multi year project to create an All Name index to the Government archives and offers to obtain copies of the files (from microfilm in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in Edmonton). Go to the site indicated for background information and to search for names in the database. I found listings for five files relating to my great grandfather, Joseph Blanchard, and five of his sons who emigrated from Rhode Island about 1900.
