    3. My first feeling upon reading your letter was that you are referring to the smaller Broussard family that started out in Opelousas. There has been no proof that they are related to the larger Acadian Lafayette Broussards. This is my husbands line. I have only a bit of info on your family, and it was given to me by a friend. He didn't provide me with sources, but it may help you get started. Many of this family ended up in Avoyelles Parish. The St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mansura has detailed records. Some of the people they married originated in Pointe Coupee and traveled along Louisiana Hwy. 1 to Avoyelles. I have Cevaller Broussard's parents as Thomas Jefferson Broussard and Donatien Eveline Laborde. Her sister Lou Tishey Broussard was born Nov. 13, 1880 and died April 12, 1943. Cevaller died in 1948. According to my friend, this info came from LDS. You might look at the 1880 census. Thomas Jefferson was born Jan 9, 1857 in Avoyelles and died May 5, 1899. I do know that Thomas Jefferson and many of his brothers were married by the Minister of the Gospel; they attended the Baptist Church and some of them were born in Evergreen. Cevaller was married twice to John White and Cassius Bordelon. Thomas Jefferson's parents were Sosthene Broussard and Melinda Sayes. Sosthene was born May 25, 1834 in Norma, Louisiana and died Feb 15, 1901 and Melinda was born April 7, 1837 in Point Maigre, Avoyelles and died Dec 1, 1898. I have researched this family, but right now all I find is my friend's file. Changed computers recently so I may have not transferred mine over. I do have the documentation for ancestors a generation or two before Sosthene. I wanted to see if anyone can help me on this. My grandmother was Lessie Elizabeth Bordelon. Her parents were Cassius Bordelon, Sr. and Mary Cevalia Broussard. The problem I'm running into is my great grandmother Mary Cevalia Broussard. On one line which I thought to be pretty reputable it says her parents are Alexandre Dupre Broussard and Cordelia Guidry. On some lines that I see of Alexandre or Dupre Broussard, I don't see my great grandmother's name. Can someone check this out for me. The line I have shows she was born June 1881 in Broussard Cove, Louisiana along with her other siblings. I need it verified for me if possible. The only other thing I know to do is try to get a birth certificate. I have one for my grandmother. Now for another one. My grandmother's husband was Floyd Monroe Miller. His parents were Lawrence Miller and Emily Maude Willis. Those aren't Cajun names but my grandfather and at least one of his brothers looked American Indian, Cajun or French. I have run into a big dead end with my great grandparents. I can't find them on anything much less their ancestors. Can you steer me in the direction of another group that might help me? I greatly appreciate any help I can get. Glena __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
