Hello Karen and Shirley I believe the entry in DOBR p27/vol 2 for marriage of Pierre Arceneaux and Pelagie Babin is errant. I descend form Pierre-Angelique Bourgeois and also the family of Joseph Richard who married Pelagie Babin. I haven't seen anything in my research which would lend credence to this entry. A "guess" would be that the person transcribing this entry was distracted while on the marriage that took place on 6 Apr 1786 (or the priest who entered the entry was distracted when writing the entry for this date). Someone would need to see what is entered in the register to bring closure to this question. Pierre was born c1764 at Halifax and IS the same person in both entries given by Shirley. I would prefer to surmise an errant entry than to try and surmise an annulment. An annulment was a very serious act in those days. It would be recorded in all religious and civil acts concerning the parties. There would have to be civil acts concerning disposition of property and dowry. No such records have been presented. If anyone has a source for an annulment, it would certainly be appreciated if this source was provided.
