Elton, It is clear from the official records of the day that all the 231 Acadians at New Orleans with Joseph Broussard were sent to Attakapas with him. Among those who received money receipts (which I have documented in my postings to date) were the following who fled to Cabanocey before the 1766 census: Joseph Bourgeois married to Marie Girouard Marie Dugas, widow Augustin Bergeron (d. Attakapas 30 Aug 1765) Catherine Caissy, widow Jean-Baptiste Bergeron (d. Attakapas 2 Nov 1765) Joseph Arceneau married to Marie Bergeron (son Francois d. Attakapas 19 Sep 1765) Jean Arceneau married to Judith Bergeron Pierre Arceneau married to Marie-Anne Bergeron Ambroise Martin married to Marie-Madeleine Gaudin Others who did not receive receipts but who had deaths in Attakapas and fled to Cabanocey by the 1766 census were (I have not posted these to date): Orphans of Jean Dugas (d. Attakapas 4 Sep 1765) and Marie-Charlotte Gaudin (d. Attakapas 17 Jul 1765) Mathurin Landry married to Marie Dugas (son Isadore d. Attakapas 27 Sep 1765) Anne Arceneau, widow Barthelemy Bergeron (d. Attakapas 27 Oct 1765) Cecile Bergeron, widow Joseph Dugas (d. Attakapas 6 Oct 1765) Jean-Baptiste Bergeron married to Marguerite Bernard (son Joseph d. Attakapas 19 Oct 1765) Bonaventure Gaudin married to Marguerite Bergeron (son Anselme-Joseph d. Attakapas 2 Sep 1765) Genevieve Bergeron, widow Jean-Baptiste D'Amours (d. Attakapas date ?) Theotiste Thibodeau, widow Bonaventure Gaudin (d. Attakapas date ?) This is not a complete listing. I will be out of town the next two weeks, but later I will try to document Groups II and III as I have Group I. However, this is enough to show it was a mass exodus with over one-third of the surviving individuals fleeing Attakapas. Roger A. I was interested in the reference in your posting on Acadians that came with Beausoleil that returned to the river from Attakapas. This is the first I read of this as being like a mass movement, going the wrong way on a one way street. How about giving me a few of the names of the 31 individuals you identified. I would like to take a further look at this subject. --
