I have been thinking about this for part of the summer. I am trying to find out more about my mysterious RENE FONTAINE. I know that he was a secretary to SUBCASSE. I am wondering where or how to go about finding out more about the French/Acadian Military in which he served. I have gone on google and looked up the different officers that held that position in Acadia but nothing is mentioned on the men that served with or under them. Personally if I can find this out I may find out more about my RENE FONTAINE (eg birth, birthplace, or positions or posts/tour of duty). I assume that France would or should have these records.... but one never knows. Also still thinking how he hooked up with ISABELL/ELISABETH CORPORON? Where they from similar bak grounds (Society) or was it a one night fling or a relation that her father forbid. I know questions that I will never have answers too. Basically I am try to think outside of the box and go at it from a different angle. I have done this with other families I have researched and have been pretty successful. Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated. I do realize that I probablly will have to join a French list as well to get some of these answers. Have a great day.
