The WEB site for the Godfrey Library http://www.godfrey.org/ does not provide a definitive listing of the various Census available on-line. What is their coverage in the States and the respective counties/parishes?? The site gives the following statement: "The entire U.S. census and the U.S. census indexes from 1790 to 1820, 1860, 1870,1890, 1900 (9 states completed), 1910 and 1920 (35 states completed)." And this is unsatisfactory in terms of explaining their coverage; perhaps someone can provide additional details to the list--- |The 1930 census, however, isn't indexed and the 1880 census | is images only and difficult to navigate. The Mormon Center has the 1880 | Census and National Index [53 cds] for $49.00. The url is: | http://www.familysearch.org/ | | I have the 1880 census CD set and will provide searches/reports for a | nominal fee - see http://www.thecajuns.com/genecajn.htm | | Stanley LeBlanc | http://www.thecajuns.com | Yes, the 1880 set of CDs is great, searchable by various names, locations, etc. The Mormon-LDS WEB site also has the 1880 census on line. The real need is for the years 1900-1930, which are not now available in Fr. Hebert's books or CD. Carl HUVAL Vicksburg, Mississippi U.S.A. 3. Carl, The Library offers the same coverage as the various genealogical companies that charge $99-189.00 annually! Some info just hasn't been indexed yet. I definitely agree re the need to expand the Fr. Hebert books but this will be a major undertaking. I've been encouraging Bonnie Beaullieu to consider selling the rights to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette as it would have the staff resources and funds to expand the work.
