I found two Rat(t)els in St. Landry Parish, LA, both born in the 1830s, and I suspect they were siblings, but I have no birth or parent information for them. There was Celestine Ratel who m. Hypolite Bogard, and Jean Baptiste Emile Rattel who married Elodie Carriere. Does anyone have further information? This is a surname I'm completely unfamiliar with. Thanks!
