Good Morning According to Bona Arsenault, "Joseph GUILBEAU, married to Madeleine MICHEL (Jacques & Catherine COMEAU) was at Ristigouche in 1761, and settled in Louisiana. Joseph was a widower in 1766 and lived at St. James [LA] with his children. In 1769 he remarried to Catherine COMEAUX [sic], he died on 1 Sep 1765, and this was his 1st wife's mother's name!], born in 1728, and occupied lot number 98 on the east bank of the Mississippi at St. James [Parish, LA]" However, this information is NOT confirmed by Stephen White (page 781), nor can any record be found in Louisiana sources to verify. Would anyone out there be able to tell me which Joseph Guilbeau this would have been? Thanks Andy Scott

Joseph Guilbeau dit L'Officier, born in 1710 and married to Madeleine Michel, died in 1765 (White "DICTIONNNAIRE" p. 782). Joseph Guilbeau, born ca 1731, was the son of Charles Guilbeau & Marie-Anne Comeau (parents in White "DICTIONNAIRE" p. 781). In the 1766 Cabanocey census, he is listed alone, age 35. On 2 October 1767, he married Catherine Comeau (Bourgeois "CABANOCEY" p. 171). I have been unable to determine the parents of Catherine. In the 1769 Cabanocey census Family #98 is listed: Joseph Guilbeau age 38 Catherine Comeau wife age 41 Roger A. Rozendal rogroz@swbell.net
