I am trying to find out what is proven regarding my ancestor, Jean-Pierre Clement. What I know is that he married in Assumption Parish, LA, on August 27, 1810 to Adelaide De L'Aune, daughter of Jean De L'Aune and Marianne Part, and died ca. 1840. Some people have claimed that Jean-Pierre was the son of Jean Vincent dit Clement and Jeanne Baste, who married in St. Servan, France, on June 25, 1765. I have found Jean and Jeanne's marriage record, but no evidence that their child was the Jean-Pierre Clement who emigrated to Louisiana and married Adelaide. If anyone has documentation linking Jean-Pierre Clement to Jean Vincent dit Clement and Jeanne Baste, please let me know!
