    2. Ethel & List, When I was in Moncton in 2004, I got a look at this family in Stephen White's draft version of the new volumes of DGFA. Under Jean LE BLANC (#41), his son Jean-Charles (dit AGROS) married 1st around 1751 to Judith(-Marguerite) LANDRY, daughter of Antoine LANDRY & Marie MELANSON. They were on the 1763 census at Baltimore, Maryland; and on the 1767 list of arrivals at St. Gabriel, Louisiana, when Judit [sic] was listed as age 40. Since Jean-Charles married again at St. James of Cabahannocer on 5 Aug 1770 to Osite LANDRY, widow of Janvier dit Jean BREAU, we can assume that Judith had died by that date. Her baptismal record can be found in the Baton Rouge Diocese, CATHOLIC CHURCH RECORDS, vol. 1a (Acadian Records [carried to St. Gabriel, LA]), pp. 112-113: Judith LANDRY, daughter of Antoine & Marie MELANCON, born 12 Mar 1728, baptized 29 May 1728. Sponsors: Francois LANDRY & Anne MELANCON (SGA-2, 85). Antoine LANDRY is in the 1st set of DGFA (p. 928), & his wife Marie MELANSON is on DGFA (p. 1152). 2. Hi again Lucie, I am 90% Acadian & 5% Canadian. I would guess that this is the case for the majority of Louisiana Acadians born before WWII. It's a long story but the LA Acadians pretty much lived in groups & married other Acadians. Others, on this site, can better speak on this subject than I & I wish they would add more information. I'm sorry but I don't have the time to go into more detail. Thanks, Esther ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

    3. Thank you Esther! I'm encouraging as many people as I can to seek membership in DAR or SAR. You are correct in that it is no piece of cake getting all of the necessary records together and that is a must and well worth it as you say. As one person put it, I passed "muster" ha ha..and so must we to become members of a group that so well honors our ancestors. I cannot believe you have that many patriot ancestors! Wonderful. I consider myself most fortunate to have this one Acadian, Michel Bourg ;o) My best, Lucie LeBlanc Consentino AFC RootsWeb Administrator Acadian-French-Canadian Mailing List <mailto:ACADIAN-FRENCH-CANADIAN-L-request@rootsweb.com> ACADIAN-FRENCH-CANADIAN-L-request@rootsweb.com Acadian & French-Canadian Ancestral Home <http://www.acadian-home.org/frames.html> www.acadian-home.org/frames.html -----Original Message----- From: EstHoward@aol.com [mailto:EstHoward@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 22, 2007 11:58 AM To: LucieMC@comcast.net; ACADIAN-FRENCH-CANADIAN@rootsweb.com; ACADIAN-CAJUN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Acadian-Cajun] for anyone interested in DAR membership Hi Lucie, Congratulation "Sister" DAR member. I went through the process & I can say, "It's no piece of cake," but it's well worth it! It brings pride to our Culture as Acadians. My first Patriot was not one of my Acadians but of a second generation settler Louisiana. His name was Jean George Stelly. His father went to Louisiana as a Swiss Guard for the French & slayed. However, between my husband Jack, & I, we have at least 12 more Patriots to claim. (I don't think I will live long enough to get it done.) 1776 was only 21 years after the English had deported the Acadians out of Nova Scotia, so the "wounds" of the English's actions were still fresh to our ancestors. (In fact, some Acadians were still to join their countrymen in Louisiana, in 1785 so arrived after the War was won & didn't get their chance to fight.) Just think about how ready our Dear Acadians were to fight, even though it was not THEIR fight. So, chances are all of us of Acadian decent has a Patriot of the ARW & can claim membership in the Sons or Daughters of the American Revolution. On the DAR main page, you can search to check if your ancestor was an American Revolutionary War Patriot. There is not charge for this service. (A person will research the info. for you & contact you later with an answer.) There is a small fee to order the "Hard Copy." Best of luck! 3. Hi Esther, They were among the 78 Families that settled at Belle-Ile-en-Mer and Guillaume Montet and his family were family #59. as found on my web site: 59. Guillaume Montet Born January 23, 1737 - Cajolay (Périgeux). His wife, Marie Vincent, born April 27, 1746 - Rivière-aux-Canards. Marguerite Bodard, widow of Joseph Vincent, mother of Marie (59) and Pierre Vincent her son (1748). Their children: Pierre (1764) et Marie Françoise (1765). Arriving from Liverpool and Morlaix, settled at Kervarigeon (Bangor). Moreover, Guillaume Montet and Marie Montet were family #52. on the list of prisoners for Liverpool - again, this list can be found on my web site. In my research, I have come to the conclusion that, Guillaume Montet met & married the Acadian girl, Marie Vincent, in the Liverpool, England prison. He may have been imprisoned there as a French soldier. Marie was the sister of Pierre Vincent, (First Vincnet in Louisiana), & daughter of Joseph, (who died in the Liverpool prison before his family ended up on Belle Isle en Mar, France.). Marie's mother was Marie Bodart from Acadia & servived to live on Belle Isle. The Montet children came to Louisiana without their parents & grandmother. The 3 are buried on Belle Isle en Mar. If any of you have ancestors that were on Belle Isle en Mar, France, there is a Belle Isle en Mar Club & the contact person there's E-mail is atbellile @club-internet.fr I'm sorry to say, I don't recall the gentleman's name. They are trying to gather as much info. as they can, of where all the descendants of BLenM are today. so let them hear from you.
