Hi, Don and Susan, Ok, I've just done a search of the SWLR CD for "Julian Landry", "Julien Landry", "Jules Landry", and "Marie Dronet". There were no entries under "Julian Landry". There were enough entries under "Julien" and "Jules" to convince me that they were the same person -- for one thing, both were married to Marie Dronet. Below are all the entries that seemed to belong to this family. Looks like we now know the parents of Jules/Julien Landry and Marie Dronet. I couldn't find their marriage record, however. Hope this is helpful. George Friedman LANDRY, Jules (Onezime & Carmelite LANDRY) b. 7 Feb. 1832 (Laf. You state that his second wife was Cesarie Jacques whom he married on 23 Jan 1844 at St. Marie, Beauce, Quebec, Canada. Who was his first wife? You have Joseph's father as Joseph Vallee and his mother as Genevieve Lessard. This would mean that his last name would be Valee. Is this the Joseph that married Angelique?? Hi all, First, [to Margy] let me say that it was good to see that you & yours fared well during the storm, glad to see your back! I visited St. Martinville yesterday [The Wall of Names]. This was by no means my first visit, :-), but I was quite surprised by one of the names that appears in the group of Olivier Thibodeau. The family group of Olivier Thibodeau is listed as follows: OLIVIER THIBODEAU MADELEINE BROUSSARD MARIE THEODORE ISABELLE LANDRY BELLE FILLE ANNE LANDRY BELLE FILLE AMAND THIBODEAU FRERE Anne Landry "belle fille" of Olivier Thibodeau, is in my direct line of ancestors, therefore all of the names in this family unit are in my file... EXCEPT!!! ISABELLE LANDRY. Who is she, a sister to Anne Landry??? Older or younger than Anne??? Did she marry??? If so, to whom??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rita
Hi all, in one source I have a "Henri LeBlanc" born in Feb/1903 to a (Arcade LeBlanc and Marie Roy). But in another source I have a "Honore LeBlanc" born in Feb/1903 to a (Arcade LeBlanc and Marie Roy). Are these two names "Henri/Honore" interchangeable in French usuage? Do they both translate to "Henry" in English? Thanks George.

Henri translates to Henry in English. Honore is a typical French name, quite common in older families. I'm not sure I know of an English translation. Unless you're dealing with twins here, the only way to know which source is correct would be to refer to the original birth register. Also, the child could have been baptized Honore, but when he was older he may have preferred to be called Henri. Records for his marriage, and birth records for his children may show either name. I'm working on a case where it seems a Napoleon seems to have started calling himself Paul. His marriage record and birth records for all children but 2 show the latter name. Hi everyone, I subbed to the list from this address today. mbousman1@yahoo.com When I'm able to charge my laptop checking three small emails drains the computer over 25%. My teenage daughter's been draining down to nothing than turning it over to me.:-) Last time I tried to get on I had three minutes and it cut off. But it's keeping her happy and the boredom for the kids is the worst now. We're fine. The winds stayed about 60 mph from about 1pm to 8pm. There were higher gusts. At 10pm the were gusting around 38mph. They settled down competely by Friday morning. We lost all the siding on the west side of the house. We could see it flying by the windows. Also those shiny sheets that are under siding. Everytime one went my husband went on a chase out there to catch them. He got them all. Just one small section he still needs to finish putting up. Also a neighbors tree went down half way on our shed. Just dented it a little. Yesterday, he was cleaning it up, made a cut and a swarm of yellow jackets came out. They have now settled in the tiny space below the shed. (Bees are everywhere.) Four houses down a massive tree went down and took the power lines with it. The road is also competely blocked off in that direction. We are probably still days from the return of power. 95% of Va. Beach lost power. Last night they said about 90% still without. They are working on hospital, police and fire stations first, said last night 75% accomplished. They were hoping to finish them this am and access the situation on the rest of us today. They also said when they reported the above that all the "easy" ones were done. I believe it. The whole area is a mess. The storm was larger and laster longer than was expected. I have no idea when power will be restored. If you need list help email here at mbousman1@yahoo.com . Hello all, there is a great live Acadian festival on KRVS.org. The music is wonderful. Theresa
Hi, Thanks for your notes. I live in Louisiana in the heart of Cajun Country. We have Pellerin's here. Do you have connections down here? I live in Lafayette. Any help would be appreciated. My line is from Joseph and on to Barthelemy and and his families. We are having our big Festival of Acadians this weekend. People from all over come down to eat, dance and see and buy crafts. The big one is the Festival International in the spring. carolyn
Roger Rozendal has provided information re the Acadian Pellerin brothers in his posts and I've traced the line in SWLR. Charles and Gregoire Pellerin were in in Attakapas in 1765. Charles died bef. 1768 when his wife Elizabeth Thibodeaux m. Joseph Martin. Their daughter Marie also apparently died bef. 1768. Gregoire Pellerin m. Cecile Prejean was on the 1774 militia list, but not on the 1776 census. He and Cecile had 1 son and 3 daughters. The son, Frederic m. Marie-Louise Pecot and had 1 son named Charles-Frederic bn. 1819 and died 1835. There was a French Pellerin [from New Orleans]line in Attakapas that was well-connected and most of the Pellerins in the area today are descended from this line. The progenitor Louis was a military officer. Hi Jeanne..yes somebody else told me she is in Virginia Beach - all I know is that I've not heard from her yet - so she doesn't have power. So we need to hope they have not suffered too much damage. Glad to hear about anyone who got through the storm without much of a problem Thanks Jeanne. That area all the way up the Chesapeake was hit very hard by storm surge and power outages - officials say that power may be out there for a few days. Fortunately I was far enough inland in NC to just get high winds and rain. Let's hope Margy is okay and will be back online soon.
