    2. Leigh Pettinger Grahlman
    3. I have been thinking about this for part of the summer. I am trying to find out more about my mysterious RENE FONTAINE. I know that he was a secretary to SUBCASSE. I am wondering where or how to go about finding out more about the French/Acadian Military in which he served. I have gone on google and looked up the different officers that held that position in Acadia but nothing is mentioned on the men that served with or under them. Personally if I can find this out I may find out more about my RENE FONTAINE (eg birth, birthplace, or positions or posts/tour of duty). I assume that France would or should have these records.... but one never knows. Also still thinking how he hooked up with ISABELL/ELISABETH CORPORON? Where they from similar bak grounds (Society) or was it a one night fling or a relation that her father forbid. I know questions that I will never have answers too. Basically I am try to think outside of the box and go at it from a different angle. I have done this with other families I have researched and have been pretty successful. Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated. I do realize that I probablly will have to join a French list as well to get some of these answers. Have a great day. 3. Carl, The Library offers the same coverage as the various genealogical companies that charge $99-189.00 annually! Some info just hasn't been indexed yet. I definitely agree re the need to expand the Fr. Hebert books but this will be a major undertaking. I've been encouraging Bonnie Beaullieu to consider selling the rights to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette as it would have the staff resources and funds to expand the work. 3. Hi, Also don't forget to check your local library. My library has Ancestry, only for use at the library. They also recently added Heritage Quest. This can be used online at home for free. Library card number needed only. Heritage Quest is also getting ready to start adding historical newspapers to libraries. Ours has it as a coming soon. I've heard that it is being offered thru more libraries all the time. I know from other lists that there is a library in West Va. that uses it. Worcester, Mass. did a trial period with it but they decided not to spend the money to continue it. Budgets are tight for libraries. It would be a good project for historical societies to take on. They could offer it along with membership or an additional reasonable fee at a web site, or they could help fund it for their local library. Depends on how the library treats genealogy also how the society operates. Just a thought. They also hae naturalization records and can be contacted via email as well. 3. The Godfrey Library in Connecticut has all the US census records online for subscribers. The cost to become a Godfrey Researcher is $35 per year. In addition to the census records, there are thousands of books whose pages can be searched, printed, and downloaded. The census images can be downloaded or printed, or both. In addition, notes can be appended and downloaded as .txt files to accompany the images. 3. John, Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. $35.00 is a lot better than $300.00, but $10.00 for 4 searches is better than $35.00 for those who just want to do a few searches and not spend the time needed to use the library system. 2. Any Julie Bergeron's on your list...I am going crazy trying to find out more about my great great grandmother, named, obviously Julie Bergeron. Born in Quebec about 1848 or so, marrying a Joseph LeBlanc in MA in 1869 and going on to Manitoba and eventually to Kenora, ON... Cheryl Quinn
