This is a scam. One of the companies doing this is located about 50 miles north of me in Ohio, and they are well known throughout the U.S. Periodically they change their business name, or operate under several names. I am involved with genealogical associations in various states and most have printed a warning about this type of situation. They take names and addresses from phone books, etc. the information is general. You would learn names of people with your surname in other countries. Hi I am new to this list. My mother was a Broussard and lives in Lake Charles Louisiana. Our ancestry traces back to both Alexandre and Joseph dit Beausoleil Broussard. I am lucky to have been able to visit for a week in Nova Scotia this past July. What a beautiful country that is. I did not have time to visit on PEI but hope to go back again one day soon and see places that I missed. I did get to Chetticamp on Cape Breton Island. Wonderful people there also. Hugs. Hi Everybody, With Margys permission I am posting this message. Hurricanes are not common to the Maritimes and people there cannot remember when theyve had a storm like Hurricane Juan barrel through. It had been downgraded to a Tropical Storm traveling at 80-90 miles per hour but weather people on the Island say it hit them at 138 mph. I had invited two people from Nova Scotia to be presenters at our conference this past Saturday and the ship they took to return to Nova Scotia sailed in spite of the fact that the hurricane was heading their way. They thought that the ship would go down ..;o( There has been lots of damage for more information you can go to these Canadian news sites: http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2003/09/30/juan030930 http://novascotia.cbc.ca/regional/servlet/View?filename=ns_hurricane0309 29 http://pei.cbc.ca/regional/servlet/View?filename=pe_storm20030929 Lucie LeBlanc Consentino Acadian & French Canadian Ancestral Home www.acadian-home.org <http://www.acadian-home.org/> Am-Can Gen Soc www.acgs.org <http://www.acgs.org/> CMA 2004 - www.cma2004.com Grand-Pré - http://www.grand-pre.com/ www.umoncton.ca/etudeacadiennes/centre/cea.html <http://www.umoncton.ca/etudeacadiennes> <http://www.grand-pre.com/>
Judie Viator has posted a query on the Acadian-Cajun Message Board concerning the Wall of Names. Essentially, she would like to know if there is any place to obtain a list of all the names on the Wall. I vaguely remember seeing something on this subject not so long ago, but I can't seem to find it at this time. If anyone knows, you are invited to respond on the board to the following message: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QCB.2ACI/1607 Thanks, Maurice http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=maurice_a_l

The Acadian-memorial Center sells a booklet with all the names. It also has the passenger lists for the 7 ships from France in 1785. Some of the information is incorrect. Hi Maurice & List, I responded the the query you mentioned, but thought others here might be interested in the book that I picked up a couple of weeks ago at The Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville. "The Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial" by Wall of Names Committee, Jane G. Bulliard, Chair. The book cost me $10.00, and is very handy do have on hand. The book lists all the names on the "Wall" in the order in which they are placed on the wall. The book also includes an index. It can also be purchased via the following link: http://www.acadianmemorial.org/english/wall.html Rita -----Original Message----- From: Maurice LeBlanc [mailto:maurice.leblanc01@sympatico.ca] Sent: Tuesday, September 30, 2003 9:23 AM To: ACADIAN-CAJUN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ACADIAN-CAJUN] Wall of Names Judie Viator has posted a query on the Acadian-Cajun Message Board concerning the Wall of Names. The following excerpts from the Marriage Dispensations show how important these are for genealogists. By the dispensation for Eloy and Marguerite, we learn that Charles Thibodeaux m. Brigitte Breaux and Agnes Thibodeaux who m. Joseph Broussard dit Beausoliel were brother and sister.[Note: Marguerite Thibodeaux who m. Alexandre Broussard dit Beausoliel was the sister of Charles and Agnes] Anselme Thibodeaux and Joseph "dit petit" Broussard were 1st cousins and Marguerite and Eloy are 2nd cousins. We also learn that Marguerite Melanson, wife of Anselme died before 4/21/1800. The dispensation refers to the parents of Charles and Agnes as N. Tibaudau. I have the parents as Michel Thibodeaux and Anne Dugas so the N. could be a mis-translation of M. or else Michel was M.N. or N.M. [Note: Many interpret the third degree to be 3rd cousins but the 1st degree refers to siblings, 2nd degree 1st cousins and 3rd degree 2nd cousins or 1st cousins once-removed] Stanley LeBlanc http://www.thecajuns.com *** excerpts *** 1800 Apr. 21 Brusard, Eloy to Bishop Luis Penalver y Cardenas (New Orleans), Louisiana Brusard of St. Martin parish, Atakapas, the son of Josef Brusard and Marg(ari)ta Savoye and Margarita Thibaudau of the same parish, daughter of Anselme Thibaudau and Margarita Melanson desire to marry but are related in the third degree. Carlos Thibaudau and A(g)nes Thibaudau were brother and sister. Carlos is the father of Anselme Thibaudau and Anes [Agnes] is the mother of Josef Brusard, father of Eloy Duga. The families of Brusard and Thibaudau are so large in the parish that almost all are related. 1800 Apr. 21 Barriere, Father Mig(ue)l Bern(ar)do Atakapas, Louisiana to Bishop (Luis Penalver y Cardenas) (New Orleans), Louisiana Eloy Brousard cannot appear in person because he is the only support of his 61 year old mother and Josef Brusard his brother went down to the city two years ago for a dispensation and died on the return trip. Now the mother says if Eloy goes down the same thing will happen to him. They are related to Brunete's majordomo J(uan) B(autis)ta Brusard. This family ought to follow in line with Alexandre Brusard to whom (Penalver) granted a dispensation from the third degree. 1800 May 19 Quintero, Father Isidro New Orleans, (Louisiana) Verar appeared and testified that Eloy Brusard is the son of J(ose)ph Brusard, son of Ignes Tibaudau, daughter of N. Tibaudeau. Margarita Tibaudau is the daughter of Anselmo Tibaudau, son of Carlos Tibaudau, son of the above N. Tibaudau, the common stock. Margarita's mother is dead and her father has many children so that Margarita and another son of his first marriage could only find another home by marrying. The WEB site for the Godfrey Library http://www.godfrey.org/ does not provide a definitive listing of the various Census available on-line. What is their coverage in the States and the respective counties/parishes?? The site gives the following statement: "The entire U.S. census and the U.S. census indexes from 1790 to 1820, 1860, 1870,1890, 1900 (9 states completed), 1910 and 1920 (35 states completed)." And this is unsatisfactory in terms of explaining their coverage; perhaps someone can provide additional details to the list--- As stated on our web site, the entire census, 1790-1930, (what is left of the 1890) is available for viewing and researching as digital images, that is every state (which includes every county, parish and town), and every year. When you are viewing the census, it is just a though you are viewing the actual census on microfilm. There is s complete index (heads only) for every state for the years 1790-1820, 1860, 1870, 1890 and 1910. For the year 1920, all states are indexed EXCEPT AK, HI, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VY, VA, WI and WY. For the year 1900, the only states that are indexed at the present are AR, CA, FL, HI, IN, KS, MD, NY, OH, PA, TX, UT, WA, and WI. New indexes are being added on a monthly basis and will eventually be complete. I am not sure what more is needed to make our web site explanation more satisfactory, but hopefully, it is covered here. If not, I ask anyone to feel free to e-mail me specific questions and I will be happy to answer them as quickly as possible. -- Nancy Doane, Director Godfrey Memorial Library 134 Newfield Street Middletown, CT 06457 phone: 860-346-4375 fax: 860-347-9874 email: ndoane@godfrey.org web site: http://www.godfrey.org
