    3. Rita, something like Work Progress Association or Authority..... was something they created during WWII i think to give people jobs, and much of it was history / genealogy support-related. probably much more than that, but that's all i have insight to. apparently they did much good work; and watch out, some of them could not read older english. 3. I was wondering if anyone has researched the Grivois family and has any information about the family. I have received some questions about it as Claude Guédry also used the surnaem of Guédry dit Grivois. I have checked the Congrès mondial acadien 2004 web site and I did not locate the family listed there. Are they an Acadian family and will they have a reuion in 2004?

I'm providing excerpts for the interesting ones re the Acadians. The entry re the 110 Acadians who were moved doesn't state where the Acadians were before being moved. We are newbies" at this and are looking here because the name "Augustin Dube" seems connected to Acadian families. We are looking for William DuBay, or Guillaume Dube, born 16 May 1830 "in Canada," who (according to an old family story) immigrated to Iowa with his parents, around 1850. The story is that his parents "went back" to Canada. William remained in Iowa, married and named his first-born son "Augustin." This "French Canadian" name for this son and William's birthdate are the only certain information we have. A birth year range for an unnamed son of Augustin Dube and Genevieve Bourgoin-Martin, in census enumerations for 1830 and 1840 St. Basile, Madawaska, NB, census fit our William. But of course, it might not be William. And his father might not be named "Augustin" at all. We'd appreciate any "where to look" suggestions with what we have from more experienced searchers. 3. I have tried for a long time to find this LeBlanc family among the Acadians but to no avail. As they say in Woolmarket that dog won't hunt. So, the next logical path seems to be a military man from New Orleans, Mobile, or Pensacola. I have seen some lists of militia for that era but none provided the detail needed to help me. I think that I need to see inside the folio of the service man. Therefore, are such records available on the Internet or microfilm? Any suggestions? Thanks. 3. Twas Months before Christmas and in Government House all through the chefs were stirring- the table set for quite a few There were lobster rolls, chicken fricot, rapure, and meat pies Doughnuts, biscuits, and sugar cookies did more than tempt the eyes. Welcome to a Christmas feast at Fanningbrook, the residence of P.E.I.'s Lt. Gov. Leonce Bernard and Florence Bernard. And don't be surprised to see Her Honour whipping up those Acadian treats in the Kitchen. In fact Canadian Living magazine recently visited the Bernards for a special look at An Acadian Christmas Eve, featuring the Bernard family, their historic residence, and Florence's traditional Acadian food. Food editor Elizabeth Baird calls the eight page spread an intimate glimpse at one of Canada's first families. Not to mention it is chalk full of mouth watering recipes to make a Governor's feats of one's own. Baird says good cooks, interesting people, Acadian Culture, and the setting in Canada's smallest province all gave it the makings of a good story. It was a fabulous experience, Baird said. Ii was very impressed by the fact that Her Honour was such a devoted cook. there was such pride in the food that reflected their family and their culture and their life generally. As Baird explained Florence Bernard still enjoys the kitchen. The feature is in the December issue of Canadian Living, photos by John Sylvester, holiday decor by Beatrice Caillie, and hair and make up by Ginette Arsenault. Additional photos are available at Canadian Living Website at www.canadianliving.com from Journal Pioneer 19 Nov 2003, page 1 & 3 look forward to it James
