    2. Have any of you ever researched the name Combrun dit D'Amone? I have a second cousin that married Firmin Combrun dit d'Amone but there is nothing further on either him or Helen Pelletier that died 1936, possibly Quebec or New Brunswick.

    2. The correct surnames for this search would be Firmin D'Amours dit Courberon and Helene Pelletier. I found their son Claude's marriage at St-Michel de Bellechasse, QC 6 Sep 1952 to Louise LAROCHELLE, daughter of Emile and Juliette Coulombe. Claude's parents were listed as living in Quebec City, and more specifically, St-Coeur de Marie parish (which has since closed). There is a marriage repertoire for that church, compiled by Sylvie Tremblay, along with those of St-Dominique Ch., Quebec City; St-Charles Garnier Ch. of Sillery; St-Jean-Baptiste de la Salle Ch. and Ste-Genevieve Ch, both in Ste-Foy, QC. I have used the book but do not own a copy of it. I tried to do a search via the Internet and could not find their marriage in Quebec, nor at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick site. Perhaps someone with Ancestry can find it as I don't have a subscription. Here are links to two or more trees with some information: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=acadianroy&id=I8795 http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=acadianroy&id=I8719 You can find two others at Rootsweb.com by clicking on the Family Trees box in top menu. Enter Pelletier + Helene in the boxes, and when they all pop-up, go to bottom boxes and to spouse, and type: Firmin (no surname). Four trees will appear in the search results, but take all these with a grain of salt. One tree at Rootsweb has their marriage listed at Edmundston, NB on 20 Apr 1920, but in the absence of that record, do not know how accurate it is. Those trees at Rootsweb family search also list different parents for Firmin; in one, it gives Alphonse and Philomene (Hudon) D'Amours; in another, Alphonse and Albertine (Ouellet) D'Amours. He was allegedly born at Riviere-du-Loup (Kamouraska), QC [St-Patrice parish], and baptized there on 19 Dec 1885 (or thereabouts). Family search website does not bring that parish's registers up to that year, stopping at 1880, so there's no way of my checking who his real parents are. Perhaps someone with a subscription to Ancestry can locate the record for you. One tree says he died on 18 Dec 1971, probably in Quebec City, but no place is given, so how does one really know? One tree also says he was previously married to a Corinne Belanger. I have not found any record to substantiate this. As for Helene, she was the daughter of Romuald and Olive (Lee) Pelletier of St. Basile, NB. Helene was supposedly born there on 25 Sep 1892; and died on 6 Jun 1936 (don't know where, could be Quebec City??). One tree also says she married a Raoul Belanger at St-Basile, NB in 1912. I could not find that marriage at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick either, so don't know how true it is; but I did find a daughter of theirs, Marie-Aline Belanger born at Edmunston, NB on 25 Aug 1913. Their marriage is probably listed in the series of marriages of Madawaska County, but I do not have a copy of that set of books to check the marriage of her parents and their parentage. One of the things I detest about people throwing things on Rootsweb is that they never list places or sources. At least with a place, one can usually find alternative material or sites to check the information given. Without a place, Quebec and New Brunswick are quite vast areas to research, so let this be a lesson to everyone placing questions on message boards or adding trees to any databases.... please, please, please, list a place with your d/m/y data. It helps people zero in on information without taking up a ton of time and effort on the part of researchers trying to help find an answer for you. Am sure anyone with an Ancestry subscription can be of more help. For what this is all worth... at least it's a path to finding your data.
