I'm of Cajun descent from my father's side. We are of the Aucoin/Bergeron/Robichaux/Chaisson line. I'm probably related to most cajuns. I currently reside in Georgia. I did the Ancestry.com DNA. My aunt has been working on our Acadian ancestry for the past 30 yrs. I've only recently have started a couple of years ago. My dad was not Cajun — French (recent immigrants), Dutch, German, English, and Pennsylvania Scottish Yankee. My mom was 100% Cajun from near Raceland, LA. I’m related to almost everyone from Lafourche, Terrebonne, Ascension, Assumption, St. John the Baptist, St. Charles, and St. Mary Parishes….. > > What families are you researching? What Period? I’m direct-descended from just about every Cajun surname except for Guidry and Broussard (not sure how I missed those…). I’ve been working for years on trying to track as many descendants as possible for Ayo, Morvant, Meyer, Naquin, Clément (two lines — Hilaire m. Tarsile Naquin and Jean-Baptiste m. Adelaide Delaune), Jolibois, Durocher, Delaune, Olivier (from Francois m. Catherine Michel), Pontiff, Exnicios, Lagrange, and Triche. Still trying to find the origins of Jolibois, Pontiff, and Morvant! > > Have you had your DNA done which tests? yes — 23 & Me. Results were pretty much what I’d predicted — although I had a chunk of ancestry from Spain and from Scandinavia that was a little bit of a surprise. My mtDNA haplogroup was H13a1a (matrilineal ancestor is Marie Renée Brault who m. Vincent Brun). My Y-DNA haplogroup is R1b1b2a1a2d3 (patrilineal ancestor is Georges Ariey-Bonnet of Ranguis, Hautes-Alpes département, France) > > Any other Genealogical projects you are working on?
