    3. It's a such small world. Of course, Gordon is related to my husband through different lines but some years ago I learned he was related to a family, the Rulongs, who married into my Laughlin line. Lona -----Original Message----- From: ACADIAN [mailto:acadian-bounces+lona71203=comcast.net@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Gordon Bonnet via ACADIAN Sent: Friday, March 17, 2017 5:27 AM To: Acadian Cc: Gordon Bonnet Subject: Roll Call IS IT TIME TO RETIRE THE LIST? No way! Who are you? Gordon Paul Bonnet (Jr.) Where you are? Trumansburg, NY Where & when were your families last in one of our "homelands”? I was raised in Lafayette. My dad was not Cajun — French (recent immigrants), Dutch, German, English, and Pennsylvania Scottish Yankee. My mom was 100% Cajun from near Raceland, LA. I’m related to almost everyone from Lafourche, Terrebonne, Ascension, Assumption, St. John the Baptist, St. Charles, and St. Mary Parishes….. What families are you researching? What Period? I’m direct-descended from just about every Cajun surname except for Guidry and Broussard (not sure how I missed those…). I’ve been working for years on trying to track as many descendants as possible for Ayo, Morvant, Meyer, Naquin, Clément (two lines — Hilaire m. Tarsile Naquin and Jean-Baptiste m. Adelaide Delaune), Jolibois, Durocher, Delaune, Olivier (from Francois m. Catherine Michel), Pontiff, Exnicios, Lagrange, and Triche. Still trying to find the origins of Jolibois, Pontiff, and Morvant! Have you had your DNA done which tests? yes — 23 & Me. Results were pretty much what I’d predicted — although I had a chunk of ancestry from Spain and from Scandinavia that was a little bit of a surprise. My mtDNA haplogroup was H13a1a (matrilineal ancestor is Marie Renée Brault who m. Vincent Brun). My Y-DNA haplogroup is R1b1b2a1a2d3 (patrilineal ancestor is Georges Ariey-Bonnet of Ranguis, Hautes-Alpes département, France) Any other Genealogical projects you are working on? Working on my dad’s family — esp. Bonnet/Ariey-Bonnet, Scott (originally Hamilton), Rulong, Brandt, Donahoo, Iams, and Bogard What else would you like us to know? I’m a biology teacher with a background in genetics — happy to answer any questions regarding DNA research. What family associations do you belong to? none at the moment Do you have a blog, web site or online database you would like to share? http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=gbonnet&I11.x=33&I11.y=10 <http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=gbonnet&I11.x=33&I11.y=10> 114,000 names and counting! Any unique resources you will do lookups? nothing special, but glad to help with whatever I can. Do you like the "how related" we occassionally do? Do more, less, too personal? love it! I really enjoy seeing how we all connect. Do you like our holiday breaks with recipes, family stories & traditions? Definitely! . ------------------------------- To check our Archive http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/acadian/ ------------------------------- To subscribe to the list, please send an email to ACADIAN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'subscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message.
