    3. Guidry vs Landry in Port Arthur reported by Meaux This sure is Morgus's West Louisiana isn't it? Is Port Arthur also a bayou? ===================================== http://www.panews.com/news/local_news/guidry-leads-in-county-clerk-race/article_30c9ce9a-64b1-11e4-8cb2-37af009f8117.html Guidry leads in county clerk race Posted: Wednesday, November 5, 2014 12:02 am By Mary Meaux The News staff writer Mary M Posted on Nov 5, 2014by Mary M Incumbent Carolyn Guidry was on her way to a win in the Jefferson County Clerk race at press time with 104 of 109 precincts reporting. Guidry, a Democrat, pulled in 21,650 votes or 51.42 percent of the vote against her opponent, Doug Landry, Republican, who earned 20,454 votes or 48.58 percent of the vote. Guidry was unavailable for comment Monday night. The county clerk is the keeper of the records for the county and Guidry has presided over the restoration of more than seven million of the county’s records. During her tenure in office she has worked to preserve the county’s history and make the records available to the public. Another important duty of the county clerk’s office is to administer elections and under Guidry’s leadership electronic voting has been implemented in Jefferson County. This year countywide voting has been introduced, allowing a voter to cast their ballot at any precinct thus reducing the number of errors of people voting in the wrong precinct. Prior to Guidry’s county clerk position, she worked for Southwestern Bell for 30 years, starting as a service representative. She was vice president of the Community Workers of America. Guidry was born and raised in Beaumont, and a 1970 graduate of Hebert High School. She attends Mother Mercy Catholic Church in Beaumont. Guidry has two children, a son and a daughter.

    3. On bayous. (actually arroyos --- originally Spanish) Go west young man. The Cajuns listened. Especially after creation of the oil industry, and the building of the refineries and chemical plants. C Genealogists are not authors. We don't create history... We evaluate and document it. > To: [email protected] > Date: Wed, 5 Nov 2014 07:45:00 -0500 > Subject: [ACADIAN] Guidry leads Landry in Port Arthur election reported by Meaux > From: [email protected] > > Guidry vs Landry in Port Arthur reported by Meaux > > This sure is Morgus's West Louisiana isn't it? > > Is Port Arthur also a bayou? > > ===================================== > http://www.panews.com/news/local_news/guidry-leads-in-county-clerk-race/article_30c9ce9a-64b1-11e4-8cb2-37af009f8117.html > > Guidry leads in county clerk race > > Posted: Wednesday, November 5, 2014 12:02 am > By Mary Meaux The News staff writer > Mary M > Posted on Nov 5, 2014by Mary M > > Incumbent Carolyn Guidry was on her way to a win in the Jefferson > County Clerk race at press time with 104 of 109 precincts reporting. > Guidry, a Democrat, pulled in 21,650 votes or 51.42 percent of the vote > against her opponent, Doug Landry, Republican, who earned 20,454 votes > or 48.58 percent of the vote. > > Guidry was unavailable for comment Monday night. > > The county clerk is the keeper of the records for the county and Guidry > has presided over the restoration of more than seven million of the > county’s records.
