    3. rust means that you either washed it and didn't dry it, or something dripped in it. Now you have to start from scratch with the pot , like it was new... IE you have to wipe off the rust, and maybe even fine steel wool.. then make sure the pot is very dry..even warming it up on the burner a bit you have to drive all the water out,,then you can start to season it again I put in enough cooking oil to coat the bottom and maybe the sides with an oily paper towel and put i on a low burner for a bit to drive out the water... watching for it not to burn ... take it off if it smokes..let it cool, wipe it our with paper towels... and NEVER NEVER leave standing water in it ( or water based food like soup etc), and keep it in a dry place , It may be iron but it will pit and rust in the high humidity if not kept clean and oiled Good luck reviving a good ole pot Fran On Wed, Dec 10, 2014 at 12:15 PM, George O Brien via <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi, > I have a question. 3. I have found soaking the piece in white vinegar does a great job of removing all traces of rust prior to starting the process of reconditioning it. Good luck, It is worth the effort.
