Obituary for Maydel Jacques Dugas Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Maydel Jacques Dugas, 92, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Karl Guilbeau and Katelyn Guilbeau. Giftbearers will be Katelyn, Meagan, Candace and Alex Guilbeau. Musical selections will be, "Ave Maria", "Notre Pere", "On Eagles' Wings" and "One Day At A Time". Survivors include two daughters, Rose Guilbeau and her husband, Malcolm and Barbara Martin and her husband, Harold; one son, Joseph Leroy Dugas and his wife, Linda; six grandchildren, Duane, Troy and Karl Guilbeau, Kevin and Chad Martin and Lisa Seaux; and five great grandchildren, Katelyn, Meagan, Candace and Alex Guilbeau and Jonathon Seaux. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Roy Dugas; two sisters, Eva Theriot and Agnes Smith; four brothers, Victor, Ernest, Joe and Louis Jacques; and her parents, Augustin and Pauline Guillot Jacques. A native of Lafayette, Louisiana and resident of New Iberia for the past 8 years, Mrs. Dugas was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was a faithful member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church Community. Mrs. Dugas was an avid bingo player, enjoyed cooking for her family and also loved gardening and tending to her roses and flowers. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Leroy Dugas, Duane Guilbeau, Troy Guilbeau, Karl Guilbeau, Kevin Martin and Chad Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Martin, Malcolm Guilbeau, Merlin Leger and Raymond Theriot. A Rosary will be prayed on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location. The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
