    1. Re: [ACADIAN] Lejeune death records in West Baton Rouge and Thibodaux
    2. Andre, I could only locate one confirmation in the (7) questions you posed. 1) The Alexis Gregoire LEJEUNE, son of Gregoire LEJEUNE & Helene DUMONT, was born to them in exile in France, baptized 13 Feb 1781 at Chantenay. He married on 15 May 1806 in Baton Rouge to Marie Marguerite TARDIF/TARDIT. The death date of 8 Sep 1827 does not seem to be in the Baton Rouge CCRecords, nor in Hebert's SOUTH LA RECORDS. However, I do not have a death date for him, although his last child was born 19 Dec 1825, baptized in Baton Rouge, LA. 2) There was a Zenon LEJEUNE, son of Joseph Briard LEJEUNE dit Young & Perrine Marguerite HAYES, who was buried on 30 Oct 1847 at Brusly, West Baton Rouge, LA: Zenon LEJEUNE, age 47 years (SJB-Brusly-4, 5). But he was not the same man married to Elvina DAIGRE, who would have been age 34. I find no other Zenon buried in West Baton Rouge between 1847 and 1850. 3) I could not find a death/burial listed in 1850 in the Baton Rouge RECORDS for Elisabeth GIBSON or wife of Julien LEJEUNE. 4) Servant Mathurin LEJEUNE was deceased by the 1810 census, when his wife Genevieve Marguerite PITRE was called the "widow Levron" in Lafourche Parish, LA. He died around 1806, according to Audrey B. Westerman, First Land Owners and Annotated Census of Lafourche Interior Parish, LA (Lafourche & Terrebonne), No. 542. But I find no record in Hebert's SOUTH LA RECORDS, vol. 1. 5) I find no death record for Marie Marguerite Rosalie THIBODAUX, widow of Alexis LEJEUNE, in Hebert's SOUTH LA RECORDS. However, under his name in vol. 2 there is an entry for a Petition for family meeting dated 7 Apr 1848 at Thibodaux Courthouse (Succ. #76), where she is listed as his widow, with six surviving children listed. This may mean they are now orphans. 6) In the SOUTH LA RECORDS, vol. 1, p. 364: Maximilien Jean Baptiste LEJEUNE, son of Alezin [sic] & Francoise Roslie [sic] TRAHAM [sic], died 14 Nov 1827 at age 30 years. (Thib.Ch.: v.1, p.37). The other Jean-Baptiste who was married to Marie-Rose DOUCET would have been age 26 on that date. I can find no record of his death. His last child I have was born 18 Mar 1826. 7) In Hebert's SLF vol. 4: Joseph Moise LEBLANC, married to Marie LEJEUNE, died 6 Aug 1866 at age 67 [sic] years (Thib.Ch.: v.2, p. 206, #23). He would only have been 61 years old. Marie LEJEUNE, married to Joseph LEBLANC, died 2 Dec 1867 at age 66 years [sic] (Thib.Ch.: v.2, p. 278, #65). She would have been age 62 on that date. I guess the last time's a charm. Karen
