    3. Thanks Liz and Don My interest is to find what happened to Calixte. If he was away to war, he didn't return to his family. There are no records I can find for him after the 1860 census when he was with his family at Fausse Pointe (then in St. Martin Parish, now Iberia Parish, LA). No records of marriage or death are apparent. The name C. David probably fit many from Louisiana; but Co I/18th rings a bell (maybe it was a local unit). C

    3. I see a C David captured at Gettysburg July 1863 confined at Ft Delaware, Del I see a C David 8th La Cav surrendered 26 May (1865? ) paroled 19 June Washington, La, from St Landry Parish I see a C David Pvt Co L 28th La Inf captured at Vicksburg July 4 1863 I see a C David enlisted Co I 18th Louisiana Inf. David, C., Pvt. Co. I. 18th La. Infty. Federal Rolls of Prisoners of War, Captured Bayou Teche, La., April 14th, 1863. Sent to New Orleans, La., April 27th, 1863, to be exchanged. http://members.tripod.com/j_richard/18th_roster_co.i.html#D I found one soldier from Louisiana, that I was researching, who enlisted and disappeared and found out he had died in Prison. In browsing some of these prisoner of war records I see some transcription errors, Davis for David for example. Also a search for Calixte produces many many variations.
