Marsha Original entry more likely in Spanish or Latin. Date two possibilities Most likely 28 sept 1785 I think the "to" is a bad translation OR 8 sept 1785 if the twenty refers to the 20th year of the reign of the Spanish King. The entry is not in ADNO v 4 because the father is not known. See pg x for explanation. Next library trip, see if they have the New Orleans Genesis Journal, The index book may point you to chronologcal listing for the mission at Galvestown or church at St-Bernard. Good hunting. Did the Islando bring their priest with them? Did he serve all 4 flocks as there is a mention of the records may be in the Baton Rouge Archives. There are Galves in both St-Bernard & Ascension Parishes (counties). Parish of the Bulls - Bayou Terre aux Boeufs =========================== Who is the mother & godmother? I went through passenger list twice would someone go behind me? On pg 220, I found a Isabel Antonio, sister, 6 of Jose Perera Sanchez married to Maria Santana. She would have been 13-14 at birth but possible. I did not see Marie Castro in the ship lists. I wonder if they followed OUR tradition of the boy's mother "claiming" her grandchild by being the godmother & having the child baptized (with or without parents permission) Did Antoinia later marry a Castro? Paul Le B l'Ascension Louisiane Chalmette class of 65 Now living across the road from Galvez in Ascension. -----Original Message----- From: mladner I may have it....but I separated the translations last night. Hi Paul, Unfortunately I did not make a copy of the original, but most probably in Spanish. Thanks for the "Bulls" info....I should have guessed that. I appreciate you checking the records also, thanks.... I don't know if they brought their priests with them. Anna left Canary Islands with her family 1778 aboard the LaVictoria. Am trying to determine if the "Antonia" Sanches is my "Anna Sanches" d/o Gaspard and Beatriz dit Flores alias Hela. My "Anna" Sanches married Pierre Honore Veillon in St. Bernard in 1814. Their marriage "legitimized their children giving them full rights of inheritance upon Annemarie Candelaria and Francoise Antonia Honore Veillon. I don't think the Antonio in the baptism record is my "Anna". I believe someone put the record in the records of the historical Society because they thought it may be relevent. Can you find my Anna and her family on the ship's lists? According to what I have Anna left Canary Islands with her family 1778 aboard the LaVictoria. She was born 1768. Pierre and Anna had three children, one, a son(Pierre Honore,Jr. did not live to adulthood. and must have been born after their marriage in 1814. as he is not mentioned. The son died in 1833at age 18.?(Veillon Family Book) their 2 daughters were of age and married when their father died.. It seems, that after Pierre's death in 1822 the two daughters squabbled quitea bit, according to the records I retrieved from the St. Tammany Hist. Society in Hammond at Southeastern. All the children were born, bapt, and raised in St. Bernard Parish. Pierre Honore was born there also. (their Father) Annemarie and Juan Gusman has their 3 oldest children in St. Bernard the remainder of their children were born in St. Tammany Parish. Thanks one more time for all your help.
