Hi y'all I'm hoping someone can help me sort out one of those online messes, where a variety of sources list conflicting information for the same people. I'm trying to figure out the various marriages of Alexis Nezat (b. 1843, son of Antoine & Adeline (Roy) Nezat). As far as I can tell -- and none of this is documented (a situation I'd like to remedy) -- his first marriage was in Opelousas, 11 May 1865, to Adelphine Zeringue (Telesphore and Genevieve (Close) Zeringue). They had one child, Antoine, b. 6 Feb 1867. This is when the problems start, however, because one source says that Adelphine died in December of 1865 (which would make it impossible for her to be Antoine's mother); others say "died about 1867" which would lead me to believe that the people who wrote that really had no idea when she _did_ die. Allegedly Alexis' second wife was Virginie Nezat. She is supposedly the Virginie Nezat b. 19 January 1850 to Pierre Alexandre and Virginie (Patin) Nezat. Several of these sources say that she died "about 1870" after giving birth to a child, Pierre Zacharie Nezat, in 1869. However, other sources state that Virginie was still alive in 1888 when she married Henri O'Neil in Lafayette! I'm happy to say that I haven't found any conflicts around Alexis' alleged third wife, Marie Constance Lalonde (Jean Baptiste and Marie Odile (Wyble) Lalonde) in 1888. I'd still like to document the marriage, however... Can anyone help sort out this mess? thanks, Gordon
