Thanks Glenda & Cecil Cecil He MAY be the son of Francois (H)ebert & Marie (Marguerite) LeBlanc NOT Blair, who were in Baltimore in 1763. Their son Charles was born soon after the 1763 Acadians in Maryland list..Charles is 4 in 1767 at St-Gabriel. Wood p 116 under Ebert, Francois Marguerite is the daughter of Amant (Paul) Gautrot & Marie Landsy in Newtown MD who settle 1st in St James & moves up to Ascension. Wood pg 122-123 Gautrot Amant Questions / problems? At his marriage Charles would be 24 at marriage rather than our expected 20. Marguerite was right on expected 18. Could him being the eldest (surviving) child delay his marriage? Why was the marriage in St-Martinville. Could Amant have move the family to SW LA after 1770? I would have expected them to marry at Ascension Church. Could there have not had a priest at the time and the St-Martinville priest was on a mission (Circut Ride) or on his way to New Orleans. If so the marriage should be on a folio (loose sheet). Why was it not also listed in Ascension registers? I could not find Charles or his parents in the Memorial at St-Martinville database. Terry check with James if he has a copy of the original register page? Are the originals still at the church? How is the new Priest working out, because he is one of us? Any ideas, comments, suggestion welcome.
