Gordon, The surname is found as Lacobie in the Lafayette, Louisiana area. My former brother-in-law was one. There are plenty of them still residing in that area. When the Lacobie/Lacobee first settled in Louisiana, they settled in and around DeSoto Parish, Louisiana. The other spelling variations I sent you were the corruptions found in Southwest Louisiana Records. > Thanks for all the help -- given the record where it's called > "Lockerbie" I'm inclined to think that was the original name, as > that's a known Scottish surname... > > cheers, > > g > > > > On Oct 9, 2010, at 5:18 PM, jatrahanusa@catholic.org wrote: > >> Lescobie >> >> Also found as: >> LACOBIE >> LACOBEE >> LACOBI >> LACOBRES >> LACOBY >> >> Perhaps this Fred LACOBIE/LACOBEE is of the same family.
