I've been trying to piece together the Gourdain family (sometimes spelled Jourdain) of St. James Parish, and need some help... They trace back to Joseph Jerome Gourdain of Bordeaux, France, who married (9 Jun 1805 in St. James) to Emelie Bergeron (Mathurin/Marie Josephe Godin). They had five children: Lucien Joseph, 17 Mar 1806 m. Victorine Godin (Lucas/Henriette Landry) Marie Melanie, 15 Apr 1813 m. Michel Drauzin Gaudet (Michel Victoire Bergeron) Jean Valsin, 6 May 1814 m. Marie Odile _______ Emilie Marguerite, 18 Sep 1816 no further information Marguerite Anaise, 17 Aug 1822 no further information I have two questions... 1) Does anyone know the maiden name of Marie Odile, who married Jean Valsin Gourdain? 2) Lucien and Victorine had a son, Joseph Kleber Gourdain, b. 1828 in St. James Parish. He married in Thibodaux in 1850 to Elizabeth Scudday, whose parents are listed as "J. A. Scudday and Eulalie Braud." I have a James (Jacques) Augustine Scudday who is the right age to be her father, but James Augustine married Marguerite Aubert, who would have been too young to be Elizabeth's mother. Did James Augustine Scudday have a previous marriage to Eulalie Braud? I can't find a record of it. Thanks for any help! cheers, Gordon
