Wondering if someone can check something out for me... An online source states that Louis Laurent Arceneaux, b. in Lafayette in November 1854, was the son of Pierre Bienvenu Arceneaux and Andrea Ynohosa, and gives Pierre Bienvenu as b. 1811 (Pierre Arceneaux/Marie Josephe Nezat) and Andrea b. 1843 (Antonio Ynohosa of Mexico and Rosalie Celeste Arceneaux). Not only would this mean that Louis Laurent Arceneaux's parents had an age difference of 32 years, it would also mean that his mother Andrea was 9 years old when he was born. Understandably, I'm skeptical that this is correct... Can someone with access to SWLAR check this and tell me if any of this shows as correct from available documentation? Many thanks... cheers, Gordon

For 1880 census Andrea's daughter Louise Patte can be found at school in Grand Coteau. 1881 Andrea remarries Charles Brown. 1860 census Lafayette Parish in the household of Rosalie Celeste Arceneaux's nephew Cyprien we find a Laurent Arceneaux 4. He is not a child of Cyprien (and because of the uniqueness of the name at this time, it is believable that this is Louis Laurent). 1900 census Lafayette Parish Laurent with birthdate of Sep 1855. Accuracy of other family dates this census and 1860 census age would lead me to believe this date. Pierre Bienvenu ARCENEAUX died relatively close to the estimated birth time of the Louis Laurent ARCENEAUX: SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA RECORDS by Rev. Donald J. HEBERT. ARCENEAUX, Bienvenu d. 9 July 1855 Succ. dated 12 July 1855 (Laf. Ct. Hse. Succ. #772) IF Bienvenu was Laurent's father, an almost 40 year old man, messing with his little girl cousin,....that would sure make me curious about his cause of death. Does anyone have access to old Lafayette newspaper articles from 1853 though 1856?? (sometimes the year quoted in the old records are off a little, thus the range of years).
