At the risk of posting a repeat, this item I sent never showed up in my Digest of _Acadian@rootsweb.com_ (mailto:Acadian@rootsweb.com) So here it is again: Does anyone know to whom this reference from the New Orleans SACRAMENTAL RECORDS, vol. 5, p. 25, refers? BELAIR [name omitted-feminine], native of Acadia, young girl, buried 30 Aug 1791 at St. Louis Church, New Orleans (SLC, F2, 39). Karen Theriot Reader
A likely canidate DOBR v 2 Pg 68-69 Rosalia Belaire born 13 Aug 1791 in St-James. She would have been about 20 days old when buried. Her father Francois dies in Dec 1794. Pg 404-405 Her mother Louise Francoise LaChausse was married 1st in 1777 to Joseph Gravois. Louise Married Francois Belaire in Jan 1791 Her Grandfather Philippe LaChausse was the Surgeon for the area and MAY have had a townhouse in New Orleans. The priest in New Orleans may not have been told she was named & baptized in St-James. ================= Next email on Belair as dit name.
