Sorry guys    Different family.    Joseph l'Espagnol, called the Spanard, went up the Mississippi River to (big) Illinois territory. When the family came back down the River (by 1777) they had become the Quebedeau family. They settled in Pointe Coupeé and some later moved to Bayou Teche.    I wonder if Joseph led the annual trading trips to Quebec and picked up that nickname?    His wife was a Beau which is not a Breau even though many name police try and correct her name.    Dr Don - Did I miss anything? Did Joseph have a brother?  =====  Usually the Louisiana records (1760s-1803) that have a woman(?) with her mothers maiden name were done following the Spanish family name convention. Joseph l'Espagnol was born about 1705.  Joseph married Marianne Beau. Marianne was born before 1709.  They had the following children:    2 M i. Mathurin Quebedeau was baptized 10 Feb 1724.    3 F ii. Marie-Francoise Quebedeau l'Espagnol was born about 1729.  Marie-Francoise married[1] Nicholas Prevost dit Blondin, son of Claude Prevost and Marie Jeanne Rernie Boulogne, on 27 Jul 1745 in Fort de Charters, IL.
