    3. Hi All, I haven't posted for awhile since I've been using a lot of my time lately reading and researching, and still slowly working my way through all the info people have sent me. I just came across a reference to a Sebastien ("e" accented) MORIN, a Naval Captain ("capitaine de navire"), the Captain of the ship L'Esperance (one of the "e"s is accented I believe) coming to Acadia (Ste-Croix) about 1600-1601 with CHAUVIN (I may not have this name quite right) from Honfleur, France. He may have done no more that arrive with the ship and leave, but ... So, I tried looking on the web, see following: http://naviresnouvellefrance.com/html/pages15851599.html Also in a French Google book (look at pages before and after on this one - I haven't tried to translate this yet): http://books.google.com/books?id=KgcbAAAAYAAJ <http://books.google.com/books?id=KgcbAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA89&lpg=PA89&dq=%22S%C3%A 9bastien+Morin%22+%22capitaine+de%22&source=bl&ots=jE8NE6M3Br&sig=sq44HGZhA3 iIO5vdnbFnlHZ9b9I&hl=en&ei=prZFTMKDOsP58AaxvtmUBQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=res ult&resnum=2&ved=0CBcQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=%22S%C3%A9bastien%20Morin%22%20%22c apitaine%20de%22&f=false> &pg=PA89&lpg=PA89&dq=%22S%C3%A9bastien+Morin%22+%22capitaine+de%22&source=bl &ots=jE8NE6M3Br&sig=sq44HGZhA3iIO5vdnbFnlHZ9b9I&hl=en&ei=prZFTMKDOsP58Aaxvtm UBQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CBcQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=%22S% C3%A9bastien%20Morin%22%20%22capitaine%20de%22&f=false And a cached address of data for an address no longer reachable: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:5Oa5NZuGXroJ:www0.umonc ton.ca/etudeacadiennes/centre/instru002/20-theme.html+%22S%C3%A9bastien+Mori n%22+%22capitaine+de+navire%22 <http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:5Oa5NZuGXroJ:www0.umon cton.ca/etudeacadiennes/centre/instru002/20-theme.html+%22S%C3%A9bastien+Mor in%22+%22capitaine+de+navire%22&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk> &cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk There seems to be a relationship (wife??) mentioned in this above cached data - Elie BELOUZE. As I said in the Subject - could this possibly be Pierre MORIN-dit-BOUCHER's parents? No-one has ever had much luck pinning this down, but one of the early references says Pierre was born in the 1630s in Port Royal, Acadia, and not in France as everyone assumes. Could he perhaps have been born on ship? I know the name Sebastien is passed down in many of Pierre's lines, was it his Father's name??? It's possible he could have been born on a ship and solely baptized in Port Royal. The fact that there are other ship's Captains in the family (Pierre's son Jacques for one) make this a hint we shouldn't ignore, I believe. For your knowledge, also, I came across the original reference in historian Marcel Trudel's English writings. Actually, I'm not sure if these are his English writings or his French work translated. Do any of you other MORIN-dit-BOUCHER ancestors know anything about this man and any possible connections? David Alexander ("Al") DOHERTY (descended from Pierre MORIN-dit-BOUCHER through my Mother Marion Rita {MORIN} DOHERTY).
