Marie Fruge Joseph Fruge was born 9 Feb 1765 in Point Coupee Parish, Louisiana. He married abt 1788 to Marie Magdalein Fruge who died 9 Jun 1796. Hope this helps, Chris Tomlinson Baptism information, 3 Mar 1765, Point Coupee Parish-1, 276, Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Vol 1, 1707 - 1769. Marriage information from "The Fruge Families bye Cleve Smith 1999".
Cousins It looks like the name police struck again. The only Fruge family I could find in DOBR or ADNO was Joseph & his sibs. Frige(r) seems to be standard when discussing Marie. Does anyone have a list of Non-Acadian on the Britiana? Possible Maryland reference? Can we check Avollyes in case she settled there. Fort Toulouse (near present day Mongomery Ala) & Mobile lookups please. More likely she is from there. Other than Marie we do not have Friger entries until 1830-1840 in SWLA? A (long stretch?) possibility In ADNO v 2 p 208-209 is the Moget family that has a dit FrOge. Jean & Marie Robinet have 4 daughters. Angelique which is also used by Marie's children & Grandchildren. Could Marie be Marie Louise which is also used by the family? The two other sisters are Marguerite Justice or Marie Francoise. Any Ideas? Did I miss any possibilities? Paul Le B l'Ascension Louisiane
I strongly suspect that Marie Friger/Fruge wasn't at all related to the Louisiana Fruge family. I've found references to her being from Fort Pitt (Pittsburgh) PA, or Maryland -- suspect she was Anglo and the French recorded her name as Fruge or Frige. Just a hunch... cheers, g On Jul 20, 2010, at 10:04 AM, pleblan@aim.com wrote: > > Cousins > > It looks like the name police struck again. > > The only Fruge family I could find in DOBR or ADNO was Joseph & his > sibs. > > > > > Frige(r) seems to be standard when discussing Marie. > > Does anyone have a list of Non-Acadian on the Britiana?
