    3. Thanks I am still chasing Louis William's children in Louisiana. another detail Both Louis & his sister Marie(-Desiree) were born in Chantenay, France. At his marriage to Rosalie he is listed as ''of Canterel''. Marie marriage to Michel Bourgeois has her ''of Chatene in Nantes''. They had both left France in 1785 as toddlers. Anyone finding anything to disprove my assumptions? Any details I missed? Paul Le B l'Ascension Louisiane ================== Karen's post Paul & List, Charles Francois Fournier is in the PRDH back over 7 generations. He married 1st in 1790 at Pointe Coupee to Marie Madeleine HENRY, who came in 1785 from France on "Le Beaumont." They had one child, who apparently did not live long. Marie Babin & Charles also had one son who married Marceline Robichaud in 1831. -----Original Message----- From: Paul L LeBlanc Gary The same info was also provided as grandparents info at birth of at least one child. This was how I put it together & hope others join the discussion. Who was the priest's informant? Was it Louis, probably not. Besides, his mother had been dead for years. His father died before 1800 when his stepmom remarried. I believe his half sibs still lived on Bayou Lafouche. I usually assume bride's father, eldest brother, or eldest sister's husband. He grew up on Bayou Lafourche so the priest did not know his family. We can agree his father was not Acadian. His father claimed to be from Boston in his marriages in France. His stepmother Marie Babin was born as a prisoner in England Can I assume the Spanish priest now spoke enough French or Louis spoke enough Spanish to communicate? Jean/John could be a translation of his Grandfather Stanaslas name instead of his fathers. Under Stephens, Louie & Rosalie have a son Louis who was baptized at St Gabriel where his grandparents entry was Louis & unknown. The priest knew his stepmom & half sibs so this is the entry I would ''Expect''. So we can see there are enough differences & questions that my reading may be ''right''. Paul -----Original Message----- From: Gary Darnsteadt Paul, I'm not sure how this fits in with the second generation below but Louis STEVEN & Rosalie LOUVIERE's marriage record lists Louis' parents as "Jean of Ireland & Marie LANDRY." Is this the same Louis-William STEVENS & Marie LANDRY? "STEVEN, Louis - of parish of Canterel (major son of dec. Jean - of Ireland & Marie LANDRY) m. 20 Nov. 1804 Rosalie LOUVIERE (minor daughter of Isidore - of False Point & Francoise LANDRY) Wits: Isidore BROUSSARD, Alexandre BROUSSARD. Fr. Gabriel ISABEY." (SM Ch. Vol. 5, No. 27) Thanks, Gary
