    3. There are about a dozen ways to write a long O in French. We probably have used most of them depending upon where the writer was schooled. . These are two different families Antoine married Marie Mercier (Daniel Le Blanc's stepdaughter about 1662. Nicholas Babineau married Marie-Marguerite Granger about 1687 and Jean Babineau marries Marguerite Boudrot about 1691. Jean & Marguerite only have daughters so any Basbineau is descenant of Nicholas. Of the Babins exiled in Maryland most settled on the River or upper Bayou Lafouche. Some of Antrone's children went to the Opelousas area. Marie's family was in St-Martin in 1770 and was back on the river (St-James) by 1778, In Hebert's Southwest LA there are over1400 references for Babin. For Babinot 58; Babineaux over 2100; Babineau almost 100; Babinaud over 200, plus about 100 with other spellings Hope this helps Paul -----Original Message----- From: mladner Hi, Oh please don't confuse me further..smile.
