I thought we had done this family before, but I can't find notes or entries in my database. STEVEN, Louis - of parish of Canterel (major son of dec. Jean - ofIreland & Marie LANDRY) m. 20 Nov. 1804 Rosalie LOUVIERE (minordaughter of Isidore - of False Point & Francoise LANDRY) Wits:Isidore BROUSSARD, Alexandre BROUSSARD. Fr. Gabriel ISABEY (SM Ch.:v.5, #27) LOUVIERE, Rosalie (minor daughter of Isidore - of Fausse Pointe & Francoise LANDRY) m. 20 Nov. 1804 Louis STEVEN - of parish of Canterel (major son of dec. Jean - of Ireland & Marie LANDRY) Wits: Isidore BROUSSARD, Alexandre BROUSSARD. Fr. Gabriel ISABEY (SM Ch.: v.5, #27) I believe this is the son of Louis William Stebens & his 2nd wife Marie Landry. Louis pere, his 3rd wife Marie Babin, Louis fils, and later kids are family no 29 on Le Bon Papa. Louis William is deceased by the time of this marriage. His name is reported as his father name Jean/John/Stanislas. In this entry his father is reported from Ireland. Other entries have him born in Boston. Could he be of the branch of the Stebens family that chose to stay in Quebec rather than return to Deerfield Mass, after the Deerfield Raid of 1704? .
In one resource there was a casual note of one stebbins being in Newfoundland at one point....of course now I can't fine that citation .. sigh.... so it is indeed likely that this stibens fellow is in fact a descendant of those stebbins Fran in very snowey pa http://www.leveillee.net/ancestry/stebbens.htm............................................................. The Stebbins Family John Stebbins, his wife, Dorothy, and their six children were all captured. Not one was killed, probably because daughter Abigail had married Jean de Noyon, a French coureur de bois, living in Deerfield, on 3 February 1704 -- 26 days before the fatal attack. John and son John Jr. were redeemed -- the rest of the children stayed in Canada, became Catholic and were naturalized. Apparently Jean had promised a better situation to his bride than he mastered, for in 1708 his wife petitioned for permission to take a mortgage to buy land in her own name to support her numerous family. Her siblings are poorly documented, but marriages for some of them are on record and the name Stebbins, in various spellings, is in the Montreal directory. http://www.crossmyt.com/hc/gen/deerfild.html On Fri, Jan 21, 2011 at 9:16 AM, Paul L LeBlanc <pleblan@aim.com> wrote: > > > > I thought we had done this family before, but I can't find notes or > entries in my database. > > STEVEN, Louis - of parish of Canterel (major son of dec.
