Paul, I have this set. There are no parents listed for Francois Lebrun. Please note, that these volumes of Jean Bernard's are based in part on Stephen White's Notes on the PEI Acadian families for their origins and connections into the PEI parish registers. So if Stephen didn't have any information on him, don't expect Jean Bernard to either. Your best bet is to find a census record for the time period of a Brun/Lebrun family with a Francois in it. I checked the 1752 census yesterday to no avail, nor would he have been born yet. This period of PEI history after the census is fraught with upheaval as you so well know, so the survival of any census info would probably be on the mainland of Acadia, in New Brunswick and/or Ristigouche, Quebec and environs in the Baie des Chaleurs. Several families from there returned later to PEI to resettle. Daniel has many "imaginary" ancestors. He is NOT of the House of Blanc - (Rene Blanc) He is not the illigimate son of the Scot Sir William Alexander the younger. No basis other than wishful thinking. Most of the church registers before 1713 were lost the six times we changed hands. What we know in the 1671 census his reported age of 45 thus born abt 1626. In the same census his oldest child Jacques is 20 thus implying they were married before 1650. The theory I like is they married in France before coming over with his father in law Jean Gaudet. This explains why Francoise 1st husband name is unknown.
Brick wall ( maybe, kinda, sorta) Many say that they can trace back to Daniel Leblanc ( founder of the Leblanc line), but then his lineage stops. They can find his arrival record and his second marriage but that's it. Has anyone gone further back? I am still stuck on one of my most mystifying southern Louisiana lines — the Jolibois family of St. John the Baptist and St. James Parishes. The immigrant to Louisiana seems to be Philippe Jolibois who m. ca. 1791 to Marie Louise Charpentier. No marriage record has been found for him. Note: there’s been speculation that the “Felipe Courtois” who married Marie Elisa Charpentier was Philippe Jolibois, but there are a variety of reasons that can’t be so, the most important of which is that on two of Philippe Jolibois’s children, their paternal grandparents (i.e. Philippe’s parents) are said to be Francois Jolibois and Ursule LeGrand of Montreal, and on the Courtois record “Felipe’s” parents are said to be Felipe and Marie Rosa. The records that show Philippe Jolibois’s parents as Francois and Ursule (LeGrand) Jolibois of Montreal haven’t solved his origins, however. I have been through every Quebecois record I can get my hands on, and I can’t find any matching couple. Jolibois is a “dit” name for several surnames — Kaquerelle, Bincette/Pincette, and various others. I’ve searched Tanguay and Jetté without any success. I even considered that they might be Métis, but available Métis records have also turned up nothing. Philippe Jolibois died in St. John the Baptist Parish on 9 April 1816. I’ve tried to put together as complete a record of his descendants as I can. If there are Jolibois descendants on the list who don’t mind sharing their line, I’d be very appreciative. Any suggestions or hints are welcome. cheers, Gordon > On Apr 2, 2017, at 3:24 PM, Paul L LeBlanc via ACADIAN <acadian@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > Time for our Annual Brickwall checkup > > (I guess the rollcall is finished.) > > About once a year we list our brickwalls. > > The last Acadian founders discovery was the baptism of the Melansons in London. but ask about anyone later. > (We will do the "Imaginary Ancestors" next) > > Do you have any brickwalls we have not looked at in a while. > > Tell us know what you know about the person, the spouce and the children lines you are following. > > Do you have specific questions? > But we share anything interesting we we find on the family. > It may be the clue that solves the brickwall. > > Start a new subject for each family. > > Please reply to the list as others also may be following the family. > The only no-no is about anyone who may still be living. > > > . > ------------------------------- > To check our Archive > http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/acadian/ > ------------------------------- > To subscribe to the list, please send an email to ACADIAN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'subscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message. Got an off list email from Walter he will be able to use the copies of The Book of Landry at the Jefferson Parsh Library in Metairie.
I think I deleted his email but hopefully he'll see this. The family history library has that book. https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/164176?availability=Family%20History%20Library And BAnQ does also...if you're near there. http://iris.banq.qc.ca/alswww2.dll/Obj_957391490645098?Style=Portal3&SubStyle=&Lang=FRE&ResponseEncoding=utf-8&Lang=ENG Deb -----Original Message----- From: ACADIAN [mailto:acadian-bounces+debipdeb=msn.com@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Paul L LeBlanc via ACADIAN Sent: Monday, March 27, 2017 3:24 PM To: acadian@rootsweb.com Cc: Paul L LeBlanc <pleblan@aim.com> Subject: Landrystuff on the wayback Machine The family lost lost this website but like "they" say nothing ever disappears from the internet Landrystuff on the wayback machine http://wayback.archive.org/web/*/http://www.landrystuff.com Pick a date.
