It looks like we share the same 5-great grandfather. I am descended from Rosalie Trahan who married into the Penisson family. She was Mathurin’s daughter. I see that you used Stephen White’s Dictionnaire as a source of info. I don’t have access to his books, as I am in rural Virginia and would have to go to Richmond or Williamsburg. I am hoping that you are willing to share the info I need. Joseph Trahan is often confused and overlooked. I have never found concrete proof that he was Rene’s son. However, someone posted that they had been in touch with one of White’s colleagues who said Stephen White had figured out that Joseph was Rene’s son. Do you know if there was anything in White’s Dictionnaire that might give proof? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Mathurin remarried to a fellow Acadian at Lafourche in July 1786 and settled on the upper bayou, where his children were born. Descendants of Mathurin TRAHAN (1760-1793; Guillaume, ?) Mathurin, eldest son of Joseph Trahan and Marie Boudrot, born at Bristol, England, in October 1760, was repatriated to France with his family in 1763. He became a calico printer in the mother country and married Pérrine-Marguerite, daughter of Frenchman Charles Orry, at Nantes in November 1784. They sailed to Louisiana aboard La Bergère, the second of the Seven Ships, in 1785 and went to upper Bayou Lafourche, where Mathurin remarried to Marie-Madeleine, daughter of fellow Acadian Joseph Blanchard, in July 1786. Marie-Madeleine also had come to Louisiana aboard La Bergère. Their children were born on the upper bayou. Their daughters married into the Aucoin, Landry, and Pelicon families.
