We share things that may help some of us but not all of us. Just delete if not interested. Yes, But we help "All Early French in North America" and anyone who shares records with us in all our homelands. Just because it is not an Acadian family name does not mean they don't share our ancestors. We have blended with many others. In LA we will help Early Germans, Creoles, Spanish Cajuns & "les Americans" that marry our daughters. In the Maritimes we help our Mac cousins. For example, A Spanish Cajun Romero both maternal grandparents were Boudreauxs. Only a few of us, like my Grandfather, were 100% Acadian. His wife had two Quebecois lines & a handfull of German Coasters but was over 95% Acadians. I have three king's Daughter in my dozen founding mother's of Quebec. Hope this helps explain the freedom we were looking for when we founded our list. We try & help everyone. -----Original Message----- However the filles du Roy were not Acadian...?

"Twin Couples" what I call couples with identical names. Common names such as Joseph & Marie with LeBlanc, Landry, Breau, Cormier etc. When we arrived in Louisiana on the Mississippi there were three "twin couples". One couple got together in Acadie, one in MD/PA, and the 3rd married here. We had about 20 children baptized with the same reported parents & only one marriage. Many people had them just on the couple that married here It took weeks to divide them between the three couples & there were a few that were still "best guess". Does anyone remember the couples names? This is one of the many reasons you need to be careful with what you find online.

Name spelled Francois SCAVOIS, age 50 years, a labor er, living with wife 38. Of their 9 children, only Francoise is married, listed in next entr y on census [next door?]. They have 4 head of cattle on 10 arpents workable land. . !BIRTH-IMMIGRATION-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN: Bona Arsenault, HISTOIRE ET GENEALOGIE DES ACADIENS; 16 25-1810; Ottawa, Editions Lemeac, 1978, 6 vols.; p. 794 (Port Royal); own copy. "Doubtlessly " originally from Martaizé, department of Vienne, France (cites Massignon, vol. 1, p. 49), Fr ancois arrived in Acadia around 1643, and married around 1652 to Catherine LEJEUNE (no parent s listed); they had nine children. Ch FRANCOIS married[1,2] CATHERINE LEJEUNE[1,2], daughter of LEJEUNE, about 1651. CATHERINE was born about 1633. Location: http://lejeune.cma2014.com/en/genealogie Andre-Carl Valcon . In Acadia, there was another family Lejeune, which probably would have come aboard Le Saint-Élie in 1642. The family is that of Catherine and Edmee Lejeune, two sisters, and their likely brother, Jean Lejeune who married a Mi'kmaq woman (DNA haplotype "A"), probably with the name Marie. They probably had two daughters: Jeanne (born 1651) and Marie (born around 1658). According to an old French tradition, the eldest bore the name of his father and the second child, that of the mother. Their daughter Jeanne married François Joseph, a Mi'kmaq, towards 1673, and afterwards a widow, she married Jehan Gaudet toward 1694. . Census: Rc PR 1671 38a Appendix A - Sources 1. Well, I suppose you'll just have to go to the talk and let Marty explain that. Gayle ---- Paul L LeBlanc via ACADIAN <acadian@rootsweb.com> wrote: > I don't know why they are "forgotten" - Paul -----Original Message----- From: smith.john.gayle “Forgotten Acadians of Maryland” Save the date: Wednesday, June 21, 2017 R. Martin Guidry will speak at the Baton Rouge Goodwood Library about the Acadians Who Came to Louisiana from Maryland in 1766, 1767, 1768 and 1769. About 50% of the Acadians who came to Louisiana in the 1760s departed from Maryland. If we include the large group who came from France in 1785, then 25% of the total Acadians who came to Louisiana before 1800 departed from Maryland. Thus almost every Louisianan with Acadian descent has at least one direct ancestor who departed from Maryland. In this talk we'll explore why the Acadians were deported from Acadia in 1755-1756; where they were sent in the American colonies, England and France; how they were received by the British in the colonies; how they were treated in the colonies, why they came to Louisiana and how the Spanish received them in Louisiana. Martin will be dressed as an Acadian of the 1755-era and have a couple of props representing that period. The talk will be at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. An Acadian genealogist and historian from Louisiana, R. Martin Guidry has studied the culture, language, history and genealogy of the Acadians for over 40 years. Martin is Past-President of the Board of Directors of the Acadian Memorial Foundation in St. Martinville, Louisiana and continues to serve as Treasurer of the Board. He is President of Les Guédry et Petitpas d'Asteur - the North American association of the Guédry and Petitpas families. Martin has published numerous articles on Acadian history and genealogy, has presented seminars on the subject as well as conducted genealogical workshops. He oversees four genealogical websites and aids Acadian families seeking their family roots. Martin's research into the history and genealogy of the Acadians uses original civil and ecclesiastical records from the 1600's through the present-day. . ------------------------------- To check our Archive http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/acadian/ ------------------------------- To subscribe to the list, please send an email to ACADIAN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'subscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message. Hi Paul, Thank you for your reply. This is how I'm related to my 8th great-grandfather, Jacques Le Blanc. I saw a 1686 Acadian census and it looks like I'm related to almost everyone on it, either by blood or by marriage. I am particularly interested in the origins of my 5th Great-grandfather Pierre Savoie Savoy/Savoye (1736 - 1830) <https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/66444879/person/48481723726> of Acadia, Nova Scotia. Would you know anything about where the Savoys came from in Europe? Thank you so much!
