There is one generation too many in the Thibodeau lineage as laid out in Charles LeBlanc's deposition. As it seems rather unlikely that Charles's wife, whose father was named Jean Thibodeau, would have added a second Jean in her own ancestry, it may be that the error was made by the clerk charged with writing out the information by the sénéchal of Auray, who had the overall supervision of the taking of the depositions. Charles LeBlanc apparently did not mention Pierre Thibodeau's wife. She was Jeanne Thériot, daughter of the Jean Thériot mentioned in the preceding paragraph (see DGFA-1, p. 1508). > Stephen A. Several of them even have proven lines of descent from Charlemagne and a number of other royal families from throughout Europe. If you are descended from one of the Charlemagne descendants, that obviously makes you a descendant of Charlemagne and other royal families as well https://blog.eogn.com/2017/07/26/most-french-canadians-are-descended-from-800-women-known-as-the-filles-du-roi/

    3. note my new address. I had to change during Hurricane Katrina (Please think about joining our Acadian or Metis lists) She is my 8th to 10th greatgrand mother eight different ways French women were seldom known by the husband's family name. so she was Jeanne Theriot w/o Pierre Thibodeau sometimes know as the WIDOW Thibodeau Her mother was Perrine Rau who we first know from the 1671 census There is a list floating around that CLAIM all founding women who we can't trace back to Europe are amerindian. MtDNA has proven most were European. ==================== Karen one of the main Theriot researcher has more info http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=katheriot&id=I322 ==================== I chose one of her daughters so I shared what I had on Pierre Ahnentafel Chart for (1a) MARIE THIBODEAU First Generation 1. (1a) MARIE THIBODEAU[1,2,3] was born about 1661. She died before 16 Feb 1711 in Grand-Pre, Acadia. MARIE married[1,2,3] (3) ANTOINE LANDRY[2,3], son of (2) RENE LANDRY Dit LeJeune and (1a) MARIE BERNARD, about 1681. ANTOINE was born about 1660. He died before 16 Feb 1711 in Grand-Pre, Acadia. Second Generation 2. (1) PIERRE THIBODEAU[2,4] was born about 1631. He died 26 Dec 1704 in Port-Royal, Acadia. PIERRE married[2,4] (1d) JEANNE THERIOT about 1660. Location: maybe from near Poitou, France . THIBODEAU, Pierre, came from France, according to Charles LeBlanc, husband of his granddaughter Élisabeth Thibodeau (Doc. inéd., Vol. III, p. 90). 1508). Stephen A. White, Genealogist,Centre d'études acadiennes January 17, 2005 3. (1d) JEANNE THERIOT[2,4] was born about 1643. She died 7 Dec 1726 in Port-Royal, Acadia and was buried[5] 8 Dec 1726 in St-Jean-Baptiste Church, Port-Royal, Acadia. BURIAL: Jeanne Terriau . Registre RG 1 Vol. 26 p.365 Register Prêtre René Charles de Breslay Priest Date d'enregistrement 8 December 1726 Registration date Événement Burial Event Nom Jeanne Terriau died 7 December 1726, eighty-seven years old, wife of the late Pierre Tibaudeau Name Témoins Michel Tibaudeau her son Antoine Tibaudeau her other son Witnesse Third Generation 6. (1) JEAN THERIOT Jehan[4,6] was born about 1601. He died after 1671 in Port-Royal, Acadia. JEAN married[4,6] PERRINE RAU about 1636. Location: Maybe from near Martaise, Loudon, Vienne, France . THÉRIOT, Jean, came from France, according to three depositions: one from Marie-Josèphe Dupuis, widow of his great-grandson Pierre Thériot (Doc. inéd., Vol. III, p. 127), and two others from the second husbands of the widows of that same Pierre's brothers Cyprien (ibid., Vol. II, p. 181) and Simon-Joseph (ibid., p. 193). None of these depositions mentions Jean Thériot's wife Perrine Rau, who is only known to Acadian genealogy through her appearance in the 1671 census (see DGFA-1, pp. 1483-1484). Stephen A. White, Genealogist,Centre d'études acadiennes January 17, 2005 7. PERRINE RAU[4,6] was born about 1611. She died about 1672 in Port-Royal, Acadia.
