    2. Sorry guys    Different family.    Joseph l'Espagnol, called the Spanard, went up the Mississippi River to (big) Illinois territory. When the family came back down the River (by 1777) they had become the Quebedeau family. They settled in Pointe Coupeé and some later moved to Bayou Teche.    I wonder if Joseph led the annual trading trips to Quebec and picked up that nickname?    His wife was a Beau which is not a Breau even though many name police try and correct her name.    Dr Don - Did I miss anything? Did Joseph have a brother?  =====  Usually the Louisiana records (1760s-1803) that have a woman(?) with her mothers maiden name were done following the Spanish family name convention. We see it a little more in New Orleans than in the outlying area.    Paul Le B  l'Ascension  Louisiane    PS I will pass through BreauX Bridge on Mar 20th.    ================================  First Generation    1. Joseph l'Espagnol was born about 1705.  Joseph married Marianne Beau. Marianne was born before 1709.  They had the following children:    2 M i. Mathurin Quebedeau was baptized 10 Feb 1724.    3 F ii. Marie-Francoise Quebedeau l'Espagnol was born about 1729.  Marie-Francoise married[1] Nicholas Prevost dit Blondin, son of Claude Prevost and Marie Jeanne Rernie Boulogne, on 27 Jul 1745 in Fort de Charters, IL. Nicholas was born about 1715 in Native of Longvillie, Diocese of Boulogne. He died before 4 May 1790.  Appendix A - Sources    1. So I'm not surprised that Thibodeau gets spelled Quibodeaux  -- or, that Descoteaux gets spelled Decato.    Fr John L      -----Original Message-----  From: Alan Decato    I was watching the Weather Channel this past weekend and they were doing a show  alled "Cantore Stories". 3. Hi, The copy of the marriage record Pierre ? and Ines Broussard that I have is on page 95 of "someones book." BROUSSARD, Ines (Pierre & Marie DUR---) M. 3 Jan. 1788 Pierre VENYON. (SM Ch. V.4 #11) However, the entry directly above that one is: BROUSSARD, Ignes (Joseph & Ursule LEBLANC) m. Pierre VINCENT d 9 Dec. 1788 (SM Ch. v4. #31 Okay...what I think is that someone who gave me this information misinterpreted the entry of Broussard & Venyon as it being "Piere Veillon.? I believe they are two different families also. As I said, I'm going to put this one on the back burner for now. According to :"The Veillon Family- the Genealogy of Francois Veillon, Jean Baptiste Veillon and Marie Francoise Aubert had 8 children. One was Pierre Honore Veillon b1758 New Orleans, bt June 25, 1758 SLC, d 1828 in St. Bernard where he had a land grant Pierre & Anna Sanchez married 17 Oct 1814 in St. Bernard. In this marriage Pierre & Anna declared as legitimate their children born previously. Annmaria Candelaria Veillon and Francoise Antoinia Honoria Veillon. The marriage was approved by the Catholic Church on April 24. 1814 bestowing full rights of inheritance to the above children. Am wondering about those dates. How can it be approved by the Church before the wedding takes place? Can someone explain to me? Annamarie was born 8 June 1793 in St. Bernard, Francoise born about 1795 in St. Bernard Pierre Honore Veillon & Anna Sanchez had another child Pierre Honore Veillon, Jr. who was born after their marriage. He died about 1833 when he was 18 years old.. Louis Veillon (Jean B.Veillon & Francoise Aubert) married Marie Sudrick in 1789 St. Martinville. Francois b 1748(Jean B. 3. I was watching the Weather Channel this past weekend and they were doing a show called "Cantore Stories".  I thought it was a positive piece on Cajun culture.  He was filming at "Bayou Teche", and in front of the "Breau Bridge" signs enjoying crawfish one evening and then good food, music and dancing at 8:30 AM the next morning.  I noticed one of the families interviewed had the name QUIBODEAUX is this another way of spelling the Thibodeau name? The Spanish for Agnes is Inés, hence the name of the church; the American Yankees anglicized the spelling of the Spanish pronunciation and named the town Santa Ynez. 1. Re: [ACADIAN] Renato Leroux
    2. Marsha M Ladner
    3. Hi, Trying to tidy up my database... Need more information on Rene Leroux and his marriage to Rosalie Landry. Seems there was a question as to what his 1st name was. See Power of Atty below. Rosalie Landry bt. Dec. 25, 1777 Asc. Parish (d/o Etienne Landry & Marie Brigitte Trahan) m Rene Lerous before July 1801. Power of Atty: -- Widow Brigitte Trajan Gusman of St. Bernard grants her Power of Atty to her son-in-law , Renato LeRoux, on this day July 22, 1801. She is here in New Orleans this day.. When Rosalie Landry remarries to Berthelemy Martin in 1810, she is named as widow LeRoux. Thanks again, Marsha
