Sponsors: Edouard QUATREVINGT & Emelie NAQUIN, at St. Philomena, Labadieville, LA (SPH-9, 52). I found an Ovilia Hebert, b. ca. 1850, living with the family of Pierre (Zephirin) Hebert and Ursuline (Boudreaux) Hebert in Assumption Parish in 1870. I suspect that this is the Marie Olivia Hebert in the following record: HEBERT, Marie Olivia (Pierre Hebert and Ursuline BOUDREAU) bn. 19 Feb. 1847, bt. 5 May 1847 , spo. Gedeon Boudreau and Rosalie Quiquez (ASM-9, 276) This is the only Ovilia (or Olivia) Hebert I can find in the census who is of the right age to be Elda's mother. Can anyone think of any reason why this working hypothesis couldn't be right? Still looking for proof -- but at least this might be a place to start. 3. Gordon, It seems as though Elda is an illegimate child. No father is named and she baptized on her mother's surname. From the census you found, her mother is living with her parents. Check the 1880 to see if they show an Elda or Eldamae Hebert.
