    1. [ACADIAN] welcome cousine Sue
    2. Bonjour cousine Sue This is a members only list where you can ask questions about our ancestors, share interesting tidbits about them. During holiday seasons we share family stories, traditions & recipes. Please remember our archive is open to the public., so we respect the privacy of living individuals. For privacy reasons minimal info after 1930 in the states & 1900 in Canada. Let's call these guidelines rather than rules. I chose a Fontenot Ardoin pair from Fr. Hebert SW LA from 1900 in Ville Platte. Is it one of yours? Do a subject line Fontenot Achille m bef 1900 Ville Platte(?) Christine ARDOIN Let us know what you are looking for. one or both sets of parents? other info? We may already have the couple in our data bases or may have to look it up. We will try & share three generation. Sometimes we may share a multi-generaton outline of part of their tree. As we are looking things up we will share anything about the family we find interesting. It is to help you understand BUT NOT JUDGE the family. This is a sample we would also do the Ardoin side & maybe include their census entries. Hope this helps. If anything is not clear or you need more info just ask. Paul Le B l'Ascension Louisiane list Admin ========================= A sample subject: Fontenot Achille m bef 1900 Ville Platte(?) 1. [ACADIAN] Who is alice?
    2. Hi For new found cousins. Alice Chauvin Bradshaw is our "Village" Elder for all "Early French in North America". You may also see her posts on the Quebec & Metis lists. Since Katrina, she has moved among her children. When she has internet access she will share with us If no access we will not hear from her for awhile. She is not actively researching her ancestry. She did her tree with paper & pencil. She searches the web and finds things that she thinks may be of interest. Please open, eye scan & delete, if you are not interested. When she shares an Obit site there will be some of our names that week. Paul

    3. Hi Paul, Wow, thanks for all the information..... so looks like I'm still searching for Brigitte Trahan and when she m? Jean Gusman. She is shown as the Grandmother on Sacramental Records of several children of "Jean Gusman" and Annemarie Veillon whose children were born around 1820. Any ideas anyone? After reading the features, etc that you are describing about your DB , it is apparently time for me to shop around for new software.(ha) Thanks, Marsha

A modified Henry number, SAW family number, or others like Robicheaux in France family number.    My direct ancestors are in CAPS. So with Joseph-Rafael I share (7) PIERRE TRAHAN & (3o) MADELEINE COMEAU    I use the earliest name of a person by a French speaker. Usually baptisimal. Others used later in life names.    When a family name changes to a dit name. I usually put the "old" family name in the suffix of the children.    When I share a line if it crosses 1755-1785 instead of my usual 3 generation, I will try & take family back to Acadie.    Did I miss anything? anyone do these different?    Paul Le B  l'Ascension  Louisiane     ====================================  Ahnentafel Chart for Joseph-Rafael Bourier Bourin    First Generation    1. Thanks for  clearing      Not sure who the lost cousin is, but I believe we lost a cousin,  "Marie Rose Bonnevie" because her name was spelled differently in the  interment record. Ot could be no one was researching her in depth.      One again, thanks for the help.      M

Do you kep a separate list of the possible spellings? Am thinking there is a better way for me to reference names? Also, I do not have the DOBR records, only the Asc. #'s. so was unclear as to that the records were you were referrring to. Thanks for clearing Not sure who the lost cousin is, but I believe we lost a cousin, "Marie Rose Bonnevie" because her name was spelled differently in the interment record. Ot could be no one was researching her in depth. One again, thanks for the help. M

    1. [ACADIAN] FAMILY SEARCH'S NEW BETA TEST OF A SEARCH ENGINE
    2. Myra Herron
    3. FamilySearch.org is testing their new search engine.  http://fsbeta.familysearch.org/   It's very interesting, and I think I'm going to like it.  I input only my family last name and under the birth section, my home county, Alpena, Michigan, United States.  Up came a ton of data immediately!  Marriages, births, deaths, all listed on the right side of the screen.   You then click on any one of those you want, and it leads to another screen holding the data for that entry, plus access to the source of the data, any papers they have scanned into the system.  There, you can look at all of it, or as usual, make a copy for yourself of the data page.   It's fast (but maybe only because it's beta and not many are using it yet), and clean.     However, in looking at my father's birth entry, I note they have the same problem they had with the pilot site at first. Half of a page is shown, and there is no ability to see the next half of the page.  There is no 'next page' button to use to see what's on the next page.   You are only accessing the page itself, not the collection of pages from which it's taken.    I sent them an email with feedback, so here's hoping they correct that immediately.  Otherwise, 2nd pages of data will be impossible to get to this way.
