Hello Paul I have for the Kleinpeter entry: Marie Josephe LeBlanc ({35}Jean Jacques-{7i}Madeleine Theriot) bt.8 Dec 1726 Rg GrandPre-ACADIE (DOBR 145/vol 1a.....SGA 2/74) d.7 Feb 1765 wd Simon Dupuy 36a Rg Mirebalais-STDOMINGUE (ACADIANS IN EXILE p.287) m.c1750 {27}Simon Pierre Dupuis ({6}Antoine-{5b}Marie Josephe Dugas) b.24 Apr 1727 Riviere-aux-Canards bt.20 Jul 1727 Rg GrandPre-ACADIE (DOBR 70/vol 1a.....SGA 2/78) d.18 Nov 1764 35a Rg Mirebalais-STDOMINGUE (ACADIANS IN EXILE p.130) C ----- Original Message ----- From: pleblan@aim.com<mailto:pleblan@aim.com> To: acadian@rootsweb.com<mailto:acadian@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 16, 2010 10:52 AM Subject: Re: [ACADIAN] Children Francois Hebert m 1760 Marie LeBlanc Cousins Thanks Karen for the beautiful work Please switch to Karen's rather than mine for the family. I will compare the two and share the differences over the next week and then delete my earlier post from the archive. The two I see right away are Marie-Josephe LeBlanc & Joseph Alexis not Alexandre Landry (who we will work later) My Marie-Marguerite was from pre-Katrine when I shared/helped a cousin off list. We missed doing a correction when we did the tree of Fernand Cavalier & Emily Simoneaux, the couple in Assumption Parish who had been married for 80(?) years. To get us started. In Kleinpeter's Family Book The Le Blanc Legacy pg 91- 92. shows two Marie-Josephe born to Jean LeBlanc & MJ Theriot. The one born in 1730 she has married 1750 to Simon-Pierre Dupuis (Antoine & Josephe Dugas). They were exiled to New York & she died in 7 Feb 1765 at Mirebalis, Santo Domingo (Haiti) She shows a second Marie-Josephe born abt 1740 who married Francois Hebert. (looks like we will be doing more pencil corrections in the book. I now understand why Bonnie tried not to sell me the book.) Wood pg 116 shows in 1767 Charles 4 years old (born right after census of 1763) and Marie 25 born 1742. Using our birth of eldest child rules of thumb Marie & Francois were married 1762 (or before) Using our female marry at 18 rule they were married about 1760. Francois was within one year. We share all our sources & resolve the differences. These are the reasons we share on list rather that rely on the online trees. ======================= Someone asked about the "rules of thumb" I use to start looking for people & rites. A couple will marry one year before birth of first child. Males marry at 20, females at 18. During war time, females marry younger & males Later. Before Genealogy "captured" me I was a professional "student (& teacher)" Every semester I would take or teach one or two classes a semester at universities. One of my degrees was in Anthropology & Socialogy where I learned of the rules & norm's of cultures & societies. These are the basis of my "Rules of Thumb". These the reasons we share on list rather that rely on the online trees. . Hi All! And especially to all those descendants of Pierre MORIN-dit-BOUCHER and Marie MARTIN who have communicated with me over the years. I realize its been quite some time and I still havent gotten through all the wonderful sources, references, etc. sent to me as much as a couple of years ago but I just wanted everyone to know that Im still slowly working my way through them, and Ill eventually get to yours and communicate again. Not to make excuses, but Ive gone through a lot of very painful episodes over the last couple of years with my kidneys and prostate which have kept me much slower over sometimes many months at a time. But Im starting to feel better now so you should begin to notice something soon. I thought Pierre and Maries descendants would be interested in this: http://morintrek.ning.com/ Its a Trek being run by Gérard BOYER (Gerard - 1st e accented*) who lives fairly close to the Antoine MORIN (my G-GPa) property and Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He is connected through Antoines son Philippe and grandson George and was born in Rockland (which is where my maternal GPa was born) and grew up there and in Cumberland. For you English-only individuals, he is also a fully bilingual French-English-Canadien and will handle translation problems (along with others who will show up Im sure) during the trek through Quebec and the Maritimes to Annapolis-Royal. Personally Im still in the situation where Im trying to determine if my own health is good enough yet to attempt this, so I havent confirmed yet. At the moment my wife doesnt feel Im able so I guess it depends on whether I listen to her or not/believe her or not. Al Doherty (Mother was a MORIN) Pickering, Ontario, Canada P.S. * Ive started to note French accented words as above because of the mangling some servers the messages go through do to the language. Id suggest others on the list do the same.
Andre I think we need to check history first. I checked Brasseaux Scattered to the wind and Faragher A Great and Noble Scheme. Does anyone have other sources? It looks like the the Isle Royal & Ilse St Jean (Cape Breton & PEI) acadians were deported about the same time so please share references to either group. We need to check the Mass, Halifax & Louisbourg online archives Start with dates summer of 1758 & then 1752 to 1763 Keywords like Deportation ship (bottom) charters, acadian, French neutrals etc. Mass http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ArchivesSearch/RevolutionarySearch.aspx Halifax NS http://www.gov.ns.ca/nsarm/virtual/ Louisbourg, CB http://fortress.uccb.ns.ca/ Look for ship names & departure dates. Embarking (boarding) list. My gut is they were put on military troop transports (ships) that were near end of charter that were returning to England. ========================== Now we switch to the French records. On a french soil in America ttp://bd.archivescanadafrance.org/acf/home.shtm?l=en use keywords like Baie des Espanole, Isle Royale, disembarking Look for Pension lists in Rochefort 1757 to 1761 If you can would you download the 1758 orders for Lt. La Noüe from Isle Royale to Louisiane I had to switch to the Internet explorer and download their image viewer Good hunting Paul -----Original Message----- From: André-Carl Vachon Hello Paul, Thanks, but I really have all that. Thanks -- this cinches it -- the wife of Jean Comeaux was NOT Zelima/ Azelima's twin sister Azeina (who was baptized "Azenor") -- she was their younger sister Zelina, born in November of 1839. Hello everyone, Did someone know what happed to Paul dit Benjamin Hebert and Marie-Josephe Lejeune in the deportation? I know their daughter Theotiste Hebert arrived at Saint-Malo, France, the 9 of March 1759 with her uncle Jean Lejeune. I know their son Louis Hebert died the 11 of June 1759, at Chateauneuf, France. So in 1758, where did they went? Which ship? Date of deportation? When they arrived in France? Where in France? Best regard, Andre

If you have never been a member of the Acadian Memorial in Saint Martinville, Louisiana, please consider doing so now. The local Rotary Club has challenged them to increase the AM Foundation membership. The challenge is to obtain forty (40) new AMF members before 1 June 2010. The Acadian Memorial will receive $25 (individual) $35 (family) for any new membership as a match from the Rotary Club up to $1000. Membership dues in the Acadian Memorial Foundation go directly to supporting the Memorial and sharing the memory of the 3,000 exiles that settled in Louisiana. Membership dues have helped fund: Wall of Names / Eternal Flame Interactive Mural-Adult and Children, both in French and English Replica of the Grand-Pré Deportation Cross Family Mosaic Coat of Arms in the Meditation Garden Deportation Re-enactment & future historical re-enactments Acadian Memorial Cultural Festival Acadian Memorial web site _www.acadianmemorial.org_ (http://www.acadianmemorial.org/) If you are already a member, why not give a relative or close friend a membership to the Acadian Memorial? Thanks a lot Cecil and Paul. It's so difficult to find something about the Jean-Baptiste Lejeune and Isabelle HUTRE [OUTRE]. Do you think they moved to Texas? Best regards, Andre ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cecil Van Duzee" <CVanDuzee@msn.com> To: <acadian@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 14, 2010 11:58 AM Subject: Re: [ACADIAN] Lejeune at Opelousas Hello Andre I found the ancestrydotcom entry you are referring to. It contains bad information; so anything from the publisher should be viewed as dubious. (Even though there is some truth thrown in.) Here is the story entry: *** DO NOT REPUBLISH*** {Although confined to the southern part of the state, the surname of LEJEUNE presents a complex distribution characterized by several concentrations, each which was begun by immigrants of that surname who settled in Louisiana at different times during the last half of the eighteenth century. Lejeunes were among the early French settlers in Acadia, one family of that name having been recorded there in 1646. The Lejeune refugees from Acadia who came to Louisiana after the Expulsion of 1755 consisted of two groups, one arriving probably in the late 1760's or early 1770's, the other in 1785. The first group may have comprised only of three young Lejeune brothers, possibly orphans. They were Blaise, Joseph, and Jean Baptiste , sons of Jean Baptiste Lejeune . Jean Baptiste Lejeune dit Briard , son of Germain Lejeune and Anne-Marie Trahan, married around 1742 Marguerite Clemenceau dit Beaulieu. Marguerite was buried at St. Jean at the age of 25 on November 24, 1756. Jean Baptiste was buried at St. Charles at the age of 40 on February 11, 1758. All three Lejeune brothers settled in St. Landry Parish and were the progenitors of the largest branch of Lejeunes in Louisiana. Blaise, who married in 1773 to Marie-Josephe Breaux, obtained land on both the upper Bayou Plaquemine Brulee (southwest of Opelousas Post) and in the Faquetaique Prairie (near Eunice), both areas becoming centers of the largest line of Lejeune descendants, which was further propagated by Blaise's five sons.} ------------------------------------------------------------------ We know the Lejeune brothers did not arrive at New Orleans. Their ship caught unfavorable winds and was blown past the Mississippi to a landing on the Texas coast near Corpus Christie. They were brought to San Antonio and later to the Natchitoches Post for release by the Spanish authorities. The info about Blaise is truthful.
