Marie Fruge Wow, she did have a lot of names... Marie Olivier, LeJeune, Fredger... or Anne Fisher??? Of course, not all of these may be referring to the same person -- it's hard to tell. My gut is that LeJeune is a dit name. From the Hilaire Courville and Marie Louise Courville records it's evident that Marie Olivier and Marie Fredger, at least, refer to the same person; both are Eugenie Marie West's mother's name. It's also possible that the Marie Fregir (or whatever) who married Roger West and the Marie Fruge who married Joseph Fruge were the same person; the West children were born 1783 and (baptized in)1789, and the youngest Fruge child (Angelique) was born in 1789. If Roger West died in early 1789 it's possible that she remarried to Joseph Fruge. But then, that makes it odd that on her death record, she was called "à West" -- by that time she'd have been married to Joseph Fruge for seven years, and you'd think his name would take precedence. Don't shoot me. I hope I'm really out of jail. I had in my old notes that Mary West's mother was Marie Prejean dit Olivier. At the time I wrote it (from my pencil & paper days 25-30 years ago) I had seen a good reference. But alas, those were the days I wrote down no sources. But I can tell you what I was studying. I am still studying and not finding the origins of my wife's direct maternal mother: Catherine LeJeune Borne Olivier Kidder. C More comments......did everyone notice the christening records of Joseph Fruge's children in August of 1796? Not one showed the mother deceased. Surely if this were a time for christening because Mother had died; it would have shown in the records. It was a time for christening because the family moved from Rapides to be near family and finally were able to see a priest! ----- Original Message ----- From: Gordon Bonnet<mailto:jaggy227@fltg.net> To: acadian@rootsweb.com<mailto:acadian@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 22, 2010 5:13 AM Subject: Re: [ACADIAN] Fruge, Joseph m. Wow, she did have a lot of names... Anyone have any ideas about this? cheers, g On Jul 21, 2010, at 10:28 PM, pleblan@aim.com wrote: > Cousins > > Some interesting records > First Marie's burial as "wife" of West not Fruge. > 2nd Identified as grandmother and Maryland reference. > Any others? > > Next bunch of Robert & his different wives.
