Thanks Paul and Don I don't know if it is from the same family; but Lagneaux's is a famous family seafood restaurant that one must visit in the Lafayette area. My family has been going for more than 30 years. Take Ridge Road from near the Johnston St./Ambassador Caffery intersection and head toward Indian Bayou. Thanks to all for the ideas: I finally have the program working again. I cleaned up the registers, uninstalled the program using both the SWLR uninstall and the Windows uninstall, went into the files and deleted all SWLR files, cleaned the registers again and manually reloaded with the SetupSWLR.exec file on the CD and Voila! Paul, Your note on the Chauvin book prompted a question I have had for some time. Nicolas Chauvin Sieur de La Freniere had a daughter named Hypolite, born c1714 in Mobile, from the union with an Indian servant, named Catherine. I have never found a marriage reference and there probably isn't one. However, I would like to firm up a baptismal record for Hypolite if possible. I have found the following which is incomplete: 'Catherine "dune saubagesse esclave du Sieur la fresniere" (Diocese of Mobile Baptism Book No. 1, Page 25). "once a servant of Chauvin de la Freniere."' I believe this is from the year 1718. This is the Hypolite who married Joseph Turpin and later married Joseph Du Lignon De Lamirnade. If anyone has access to these records, I would like a copy/transcription of the full entry and where I might be able to access it or at lease provide a source. My other lingering questions are what happened to Hypolite's mother Catherine? She had a Christian name, was she ever baptisted? What tribe did she likely belong to? Did Nicolas Chauvin leave a will? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Gary D
Hi; I have tried the registry cleaner to no avail. The "Run-time error '339'" message actually reads: "Component 'RICHTX32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not currently registered: a file is missing or invalid." I have also tried to run the CD on a Windows Vista system and it will not work. I am wondering if there could be a problem with the CD itself. Has anyone dealt with Claitor's Bookstore about replacements? One is EasyClean by ToniArts and the other is CCleaner which is also free. Just do a Google search on ccleaner and you will see a file ccsetup236.exe. Download it and run it I have been using both of these for several years. EZclean by ToniArts does several other things too. Also there is a free CD Rom Emulator program by Paragon, it is free and what it does is makes an image of the CD and you create a virtual drive and put the SWLR image in that drive, then install the SWLR CD from that image. After that you can run the CD from the image and you don't use the actual CD at all. When I create a virtual drive I use drive Z: so that if you use flash drives, it does not change their drive letter letter, such as E: and F:, etc. If you need more instructions, let me know. Hi: I have both volumes of it, and a lot of the information, as you state is outdated (ie Bona Arsenault), but there is a lot of very good information. It is done in a unique, neat format. Sounds like your register is corrupted. Look for a register cleaner. There are several free ones on the web. I use Reg Tool it is relatively inexpensive and keeps my computer tuned up. Looking for any information on the ancestry of Thomas Harrington & Marie Boyer, m. 25 Apr 1827 in St. Martinville. Most of what's out there seems contradictory -- I have Marie's parents as Jean Boyer (no further information) and Anne Abshire, d/o Jean Jacques Abshire & Fanny Hargrave, but that's about it. Anyone know anything more about these folks? thanks, g
