CANCELLATION OF FESTIVAL DUE TO WEATHER It is with much regret that we announce the cancellation of the Acadian Memorial Heritage Festival and Wooden Boat Congrès on March 21, 2015. We`ve been monitoring the weather, for the past several days and predictions remain for an 80-100% chance of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday. The Festival is an outdoor and on-the-water event, and we want to ensure everyone`s safety. The Festival will not be re-scheduled, but we are looking at putting on parts of the Festival throughout 2015, including the re-enactment of the arrival of the Acadians. Please stay tuned for more details. And be sure to put October 8, 2015 and March 19, 2016 on your calendars! 1. [ACADIAN] Saulnier/Sonnier and Guilbeau arrival in St. Martinville cancelled for Saturday
    2. Paul L LeBlanc via
    3. From: LOUIS JR MIER Sent: Wed, Mar 18, 2015 10:09 pm Subject: Saulnier/Sonnier and Guilbeau arrival in St. Martinville cancelled for Saturday Dear Sonnier family I just spoke to Marty Guidry and the Festival at St. Martinville HAS BEEN CANCELLED because of the rain. Please contact any members of your family who were planning to attend. The Sonniers and Guilbeaus will be honored on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at St. Martinville for Le Grand Reveile Acadien (Oct. 3 - 12, 2015). I don't know if the pirogues will be available during the week, but we can certainly plan to meet as a family. And...some of our Saulnier/Sonier Canadian friends could be invited to attend. The Sonniers and Guilbeaus will definitely be honored next year at the March Festival, 2016. So we now have two "shots" at getting together in St. Martinville. Although I'm disappointed about Saturday, we all know that God knows best what's good for us. So, mark your calendars for the Grand Reveil in October. We're looking at Thursday at St. Martinville, Friday for Genealogy Day in Lafayette, and Sunday for the beautiful Mass and Tintamarre in Girard Park. Also, chefs from Abbeville will be on site cooking their fabulous BIG omelet (lots of fun to watch!). MUCH MORE ON ALL OF THIS LATER. Some of you have already agreed to help pay the expense of getting a table at the genealogy day: Louis and Kathy Mier, Ella and Lovess Hebert, Clara S. Darbonne. and Verlie Sonnier. Please let me know if you are willing to pitch in. It will cost about $300, but participants last year said it was a BIG SUCCESS. More on Le Grand Reveil Acadien later. We really need to work hard at getting Uncle Cleophas's family involved in these activities. A big thank you to Clara, Verlie , Preston, Lovess and the two Ellas and all who were working hard to make our day Saturday memorable. Also, thank you to all of you who were planning to join us. Can't say that we didn't try!!! At least, we have our stuff ready for October now, huh??? :) Don't forget Easter cards to all those who are in nursing homes or homebound! Let's continue to pray for each other! "WE COME FROM A LONG LINE OF LOVE...AND PRAYERS. 3. Well Rocky was right. Well thanks Roberta for the explanation. There are almost no (if any) en France French in the standard database so cannot have a French percentage. I wonder who else is missing. This may work OK if you do European, African, Asian percentages. Probably can not differentiate Asian from Amerindian. This is the reason that we see over & over the claim that Daniel LeBlanc is an Irish Alexandrer. The Folse were Germans recruited by/for John Laws Louisiana company after The french could not provide enough colonists Law expanded his recruiting to most of mainland Europe. Any and all were accepted all you had to do was become Roman Catholics. Anyone have much info on the Hungarian Gypsies that settled on the Mississippi gulf coast. For the Folse see Albert Robichaux German Coast Families p 176-179 -----Original Message----- From: Lona Boudreaux :) We don't either but those same areas show up in other's DNA tests that connect to Rocky on the Ancestry page I have for him. I told him some of his French ancestors were either fighting with the Scots and Irish against the English or the Irish were fighting for the French and took a little trip to France to see the scenery. Who knows what his German Folse/Foltz was up to. I know one thing for sure. His parents would not be happy with this DNA test. His dad was very upset with me years ago when he told me he was French and I told him yes but not totally. Then went on to show him where he connected to the German Folse/Foltz family. 3. Thanks for sharing the web address. Ancestry does say in their papers to test as many members of the family they can get to test and it's best to test the oldest members of the family as DNA becomes diluted. For us it was me and Rocky as the oldest. I've also learned that siblings, testing with the same company, will even end up with some difference in their DNA. I'm hoping that all this testing will improve as the years go by. 3. Thanks, that was a very interesting article, and a real eye-opener. After reading it, it occurs to me that New Orleans celebrates mi-carême, even though we may not realize it ! I say this as we wrap up a weekend of Irish, Italian-American, and Mardi Gras Indian parades and festivities. Although these dates (approx 15-19 March) don't always come exactly in the middle of Lent, I now think of them as New Orleans' *mi-carême -- *our way of letting off steam in the middle of the deprivations and solemnity of the lenten season !
