Hi Paul, I've not been following the DAVID e-mails nor working on this line. Looked at it today and thought I would check Rocky's family. None of this may help but thought I would post anyway. According to my Family Tree Maker program Marguerite Elmire BREAUX, one of Rocky's 1st cousins 5x's removed, was married to Jean Baptiste DAVID April 26, 1832 St. Martinsville, La. Marguerite parents were Agricole and Scholastique PICOU BREAUX. Agricole was the son of Pierre Firmin and Marguerite BREAUX. Pierre is one of Rocky's paternal 7th great grandfathers. I have Jean Baptiste DAVID's parents as Jean Baptiste and Scholastique SAVOIE DAVID. According to what I have Jean Bepatiste and Marguerite both died in Opelousas. I also have some dates on this family and children's names but since I've not worked the line I don't know how accurate they are. If someone wants that information, I'm willing to post it. Any other descendants out there? -----Original Message----- From: Earl David via <[email protected]> Cecil, I know the family very well. Earl
Thanks Paul …......... just to give you a heads up, I’ve recently been focusing time attempting to connect with distant David cousins via those that have posted David family trees on Ancestry.com as a lead generator. There are a bunch out there and I’m gaining some traction having already connected with a few including descendants of Adrien, Jean Baptiste and Victor Helaire. Will keep the list posted as further progress is made. Cecil, I know the family very well. Paul David II, Adrien's grandfather, was my 3rd great grandfather. He migrated the family from Convent to Saint Martinville, Louisiana between 1825 and 1827. His 2nd son, Paul Helaire David, married Josephine Langlinais at St. John's Cathedral in Lafayette in May 1844. In less than a year, the were living in New Iberia where their 1st son, my great grandfather, Julien Helaire, was born in March 1845. Paul Helaire migrated the family to Youngsville between 1851 and 1854 where Adrian and the next 3 children were born between 1854 and 1860. All of Adrien, Julien Helaire and Jean Baptiste's children were born and baptized in Youngsville between 1870 and 1903. We do not see family migration westward until about 1885 with brothers, Paul Helaire David II in 1885 to Abbeville and Victor Helaire in 1882 to Abbeville. Dear All: I will be in Cape Breton from July 26 - Aug 9 staying in Point Michaud near L’Ardoise and St. Peters. I plan a day trip to Arichat, Isle Madam to visit the historical society there and do a little research. If anyone is in the area and would like to meet for a coffee and a chat, let me know. I would be happy to meet some cousins and put the names and faces together. Sending you all warmest regards, Deborah (researching Petitpas/Boug/Landry/Bonin) > On 25 Jun 2015, at 19:51, smith.john.gayle via <[email protected]> wrote: > > I wanted to visit l'Acadie specifically because my Breaux/Brault ancestors settled there...........my immediate ancestor Firmin Breaux came to Louisiana alone, but the remainder of his family settled in l'Acadie after they were allowed to leave Massachusetts. > > We accidentally were there for their heritage festival Fetes patrimoniales de L’Acadie on Saturday and Sunday, August 2 and 3, 2014 (I just checked my journal notes.) Pardon delay in responding to your query on acquiring books; Don Boudreaux's widow Joan, has Don's Books and I believe she would sell the lot, if price is fair. Mitch Note for Paul: Stephen White has provided me with a correction on lineage of Marguerite Savoie, second wife of Joseph Gregoire "Petit Joe" Broussard; if you still have capability to receive attachments I would send copy to you. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Earl David via Sent: Sunday, June 28, 2015 12:57 PM To: 'Paul L LeBlanc'; [email protected] Subject: [ACADIAN] Father Donald Hebert Southeast Louisiana Church and Civil Records Hello Paul, It's been a while since our last connect. I need your direction , if possible. Can you tell me the best source for acquiring the volumes of Father Donald Hebert Southeast Louisiana Church and Civil Records? Do you know if these volumes are available on CDs? Expanding my research in Louisiana and even though I have access to hardcopy volumes at the Denver Library, CD copies would greatly expedite the process. Two more of us are inducted. I met Shirley when I was the first of my families to "return" to Bayou Tech for the Acadian Memorial Festival. Returned? My Jean Dugas, after signing the Dautrive Compact, died in the Fall of 1765 and the remnants of three families fled to "The River" as one. (There is also a theory that Etienne LeBlanc's family first tried Tech before finally settling on Bayou Lafourche) On an Assumption I had returned for the celebration. I was taking a break out front when a delivery driver asked me for directions. I must have looked like a "local". I nicely explained that my family had "moved away". James came out & gave him directions. ========================== Paul, please feel free to mention on “rootsweb”.
